This place really is a hidden gem. Excellent selection of animals - and you get really close to them. Nice cafe and shop. I would compare South Lakes very favourably with any of the better known animal attractions (eg Chester and Edinburgh zoos). Would definitely return if in the area. more

This is my second time to South Lakes and it was worth an hour and a half drive to get there. The park has been done up somewhat since my last time, and is well kept with lots of staff around. Visited this park in June 2008. My highlight was the six day old rhino; I had never seen such cute little thing. There also was an opportunity to feed giraffes which isn't common in the UK. Lemurs roam freely round the park. Really enjoyed my day at this park. more

Not a very large park but very interesting and entertaining. They are really hot on conservation and you get the chance to learn a lot about these issues as well as getting close up to some of the animals.
