We have been cycling on all the cycle trails in the peak district loads of times but now the kids are older, they don't need it to be so easy. However as this trail had recently been extended and several tunnels opened, we fancied trying it. We set off from Bakewell station (no signs as such for the trail, but... More

Well - Chatsworth International Horse Trial Cancelled due to rain!!!!!!! Booked into a hotel - Can't cancel!!! So the beloved and I set off and arrived at Hassop Station from where we walked to the Monsal Viaduct through the most beautiful countryside, meandered down by the river and under the viaduct, before the wander back to Hassop. We were lucky... More

We followed the map of the trail on the AA website which is available here http://www.theaa.com/walks/through-monsal-dale-the-valley-of-the-gods-420249. This route is different from the disused railway line but we did pass it and also see an old tunnel which is now open to public. We preferred the AA route as it was quiter and much closer to nature. The disused railway line... More

I'd been to Bakewell twice before, but I'd missed this! A disused railway viaduct tucked away in the valley of the River Wye, now reborn as a trail for walkers and cyclists. You can walk from Bakewell station, then view it from on high at Monsal Head and from below in Monsal Dale. A great way to spend an afternoon! More

We cycled the Monsal Trail from Harrop Station. We hired cycles at the shop there, slightly expensive, but glad we did it. The staff at the cycle hire shop were very helpful. The ride took about 3 hours to complete at a leisurely pace, with a few stops and a break for a cuppa along the way. There are some... More

This is a wonderful walk with lots of interest en route. We walked from Wyedale car park, initially along the river, before climbing onto the old rail track. Walking pace allows the skillful engineering of the cuttings and tunnels to be admired in some detail. (Some cycle riders shot passed us at high speed without warning and health and safety... More

We spent 3 nights at this camping and caravaning site at easter, two adults and two 12 year old girls. It is a super place. The owners are very helpful and pleasant, the fields are good and the showering and toileting facitilies are second to none! The way the electric hook-ups are set up with a card is a good... More

Easily achievable and fun too with a 5&8 year old. We hired adult's bikes at Hassop Station having brought the children's ones with us. A great cycling experience including through a tunnel then onto a viaduct. We parked up the bikes and ran down the hill to the river below before riding back again. More

Wonderful cycle route. We hired bicycles from Hassop Station, near the Bakewell end of the trail. You can hire for 2-hr, 4-hr, or all day. It is a slight upward slope heading west, but even a very inexperienced cyclist like me managed okay. So much fun going through the tunnels. And of course, many amazing views along the way. If...
