Went for easter sunday lunch, hostess was lovely, chef I'd say was slightly squiffy. Veggie options were almost absent. Food was average it used to be spectacular was this just the Sunday shift we wondered. Sadly won't be returning.

Loved the original river cottage series'. Really found Hugh to be my favourite of the food related TV personalities.
I knew he wouldn't be there (had read the advert before I bought) but was realy looking forward to RCHQ and was looking for some inspiration RE poly tunnels and what you could do with them and see the (some?) animals....

Having read previous reviews we approached our evening at River Cottage with caution but we have nothing but praise for the whole experience. Met at the tractor stop by a warm fire and a good welcome we began what was to be a great evening. Everything is run in a smooth, slick manner. Informative introduction in yurt with lovely warming...

VERY overpriced for school dinner main course. It was the usual tractor ride down to the house and barns but, being October, it was dark so we could not see the vegetable garden. We had a very nice Perry champagne in the Yurt with 2 canapes which I would have expected from a teenage boy - large, basic, etc. The...

I would love to give this an "excellent" rating as we really, really enjoyed our Sunday lunch at River Cottage. But, I just can't get my head around the hefty price tag for what we actually ate/drank. Yes, it was wonderful experience, free-ranging over the farm and house, but at the end of the day, we were there for the...

We felt that at £70 per head the price was a bit steep, even if you did treat it as an experience and not just a meal.
The food was good, except for the bread that we were supposed to eat the cheese with. It had a horrible flavour and was over cooked, so once we'd realised how bad it...

Booked River Cottage Summer nights as a surprise for my husband and it did not disappoint (age 26 & 30). From beginning to end it was out of this world. Well worth the trip. Food was outstanding, the service was excellent, the whole set up was beautiful. The music was fantastic. Given it's a captive market the drinks prices were...

We booked for an Al Fresco Friday Night as a holiday treat and although it was expensive, we felt it was money very well spent. Upon arrival, we were transported from the car park to the farm by tractor and were then greeted with an aperitif and canapés and a brief introduction to the work of the farm. We were...

went to recent vegetarian special at the farm house, started interestingly enough with tractor ride down farm track and glasses of elderflower wine served in the yurt, had a wander round the farm, staff very informed and pleasant. Then into the dining room rather uncomfortable chairs, starter of sliced tomatoes with dressing, then lettuce and lovage soup served with very nice bread,so far 7/10.Mains was polenta...

I was taken to River cottage last friday from a birthday meal which I do believe cost about £60ish a head.. It was a lovely evening and we felt lucky to be eating out side. The place is very nice and was welcoming.
I had 3 main problems though
1. the food was nice but the protions where a bit...
