All the beaches in this area are shingle and yes the car park is expensive but the beach itself and the facilities are both worth while especially if you are planning on being there all day. I thought it was terrible, there was no sand, just gravel, and a couple of sandpits, When you went in the water you sank into the gravel, which makes it unsafe for small children. There much better beaches in south Devon than this one, I wouldnt go there again, more

Breathtakingly beautiful beach which is really clean. No sand but lovely clear waters and peaceful surroundings - the children loved it. Superb cafe + excellent facilities (toilets, showers etc). Car park a little pricey but we it didn't stop us going back on a further two occasions. more

It's a beautiful place, stunning landscape, clean with a good outdoor cafe open practically all year round (there are gas heaters outside). by the way, the entry fee is for the car park in peak season only - not the beach, that's free - stay in Torquay if you want candy floss and kiss me quick hats - you won't... more

Think Blackpool and you think "sand", so when driving on the coastal road from Torquay you see Blackpool Sands and from high up it looks great. And it costs £4 to get in to a beach so it must be great........ and then you get out the buckets and spades, and get to the beach and...... it's just stones, no... more
