I spent most of my time either in the hide or walking by the freshwater lake. I did look at the beach and to the reviewer who saw no sand all I can say is perhaps the tide was out? Drove past the lake, Slapton Ley, a few days earlier and saw more swifts than I have ever seen in... More

The combination of a lagoon and walk through a nature reserve on one side of the road and a beach and sea on the other makes this a brilliant place to spend time and take a breather. There is also a hide at the corner of the car park for birdwatchers. The pubs, tea-room and vilage stores caters for those... More

when we visited the locals were out in force cleaning up the mess left by trippers and dog walkers, not all beaches allow you to take a dog on and as resposible dog owners we always clean up after our dog, to see dedicated people having to do this just out of pride for their area was lovely. Well done... More

This has to be one of the most beautiful parts of the South Devon Coast. As another reviewer said it is not sandy but that is not what this long stretch of coastline is about. As you drive along the coast road looking down the views take your breath away. Long golden beach surrounded by rugged coastline with a very... More

We had a lovely time here. I don't see how it can be called Slapton Sands when there's no sand. There's a pathway at the top of the beach which we found much easier to walk on. The beach is pebbles. It is a lovely place and the locals say it could be disappearing soon so visit at your earliest... More

A beautiful spot to visit, but take care if swimming here as beach shelves away suddenly as you enter the sea. Stop and look at the world war 2 american tank, that was brought up from the seabed a few years ago, evidence of the disasterous Exercise Tiger. More
