Why does this place carry on? It is of no use to anyone. A nice idea to rebuild a pannier market after the war but it has not moved with the times and does not seem to have learnt from better places that have survived and thrived. There is a long standing and growing demand for farmers markets, fresh fish... More

Nothing inside makes it worth visiting the market. Cheap rubbish in most of the stalls, reminiscent of pound shops. It is out of the way of most of the better shops anyway so don't even need to avoid it. Needs redoing badly. More

There is enough space and the post war building is OK but the contents are not up to it. Given the fishing farming and general local and regional demographic, this Market should be amongst the best in Britain. But is dreadful. More

Difficult to see how this can be viable. Poor hacked about and miserably done up end of town. No bustle. No evidence of quality or variety or competition on price or anything. Like others I like the building but what a waste. Car boots and pound stores make many of the stalls redundant. The cheese meat and veg stalls don't... More

Very friendly stall holders and lots of room to walk around and have a good look. Excellent value for money on goods sold. More

Very sad that a city like Plymouth surrounded by sea and farmland should have no good open or pannier market. The cancellation of the Farmers Market was a tragedy. As the retail area slowly dies off, surely a good street or indoor market would attract people back? Meantime can't recommend the existing PM to anyone. The fish section is particularly... More

The Pannier Market is mediocre at best. The fish retailers section is not even that. There used to be a farmers market in the street outside and sometimes in Armada Way. It is no longer operating. Given the large number of shoppers in the city centre there ought to be a good fish market and farmers stalls. We see very... More

If you looking for cheap and cheerfull goods or groceries the market is the place , it needs a revamp and those cafe type bits could be knocked into one big eating zone and made more inviting and more disabled friendly More

Plymouth has a fantastic geographic setting as a seaport and fishing base. It sees itself as a regional centre. There is very successful farming all round. There is a sudden increase in eating places. You would expect that there would be a busy and impressive food and fish market with lots of locally landed and grown food. The tourist guide... More
