Disgusting service. I go on freight with this company quite often (Portsmouth - Caen).
I am disabled with various other medical issues, I have letters from my GP and consultant detailing my conditions and my specific needs (a reasonable adjustment under the Equality Act 2010).
Despite this, I am always allocated a cabin with three other complete strangers, I cannot actually do this as there is physically not enough room for me to move with my disabilities, also, I have medical equipment which I require to be plugged in and there is physically no room for it with three other drivers in the cabin (not to mention it is extremely noisy).
In the past I have also been allocated a top bunk on a number of occasions, being disabled it is not possible to use this - When I mention this to the booking office I have been told ‘well sleep on the floor then’.
I frequently contact both this company about this well in advance of sailing and every time I am told to take my doctors letter when you go to check in, when I get to check in they tell me that I need to contact them in advance - Which is it?
Previously when I explained the situation to this company I was told by one of their managers ‘Well if you are disabled then you should not do this job’, this statement being discrimination and illegal, of course.
On the boat there are dozens of empty passenger cabins, if someone has medical issues, is registered disabled and has supporting medical evidence then why can you just not put them in a spare passenger cabin? (after all, you are legally obliged to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ where possible - Although a member of your staff told me that you are not).
Sort yourselves out, your service is disgusting and completely unacceptable - I use many other freight companies and every other one, without exception, manages to avoid this situation with ease.

Beware: Read the small print " From 15%" and "From 30% savings" BUT : Club Voyage discount has been sneakily changed to only have any significant benefit if you have been a member since before 16/11/2021 and... remember Covid? ... when no-one was travelling anywhere , so people ( like me, a loyal customer for years) didn't renew their membership. For the Spanish route it is £180 for the first year, so to recoup this on the ticket cost you have to spend £3600 ! - granted you get £10 vouchers for meals , but this is a bizaar " incentive" to be a regular customer

Returning Caen to Portsmouth on 29 Dec 2023 1915ish arrival. Loading and trip were fine, but arrival in Portsmouth, service was very poor, as usual (previous trip summer 2023 late night arrival was awful).
Plenty of customs booths open, and traffic seemed to flow reasonably, but getting to the gate was an eternity. One Brittany Ferries staff member controlling traffic flow from the lanes off the boat tot he customs queues, and the far right lane took almost 60 minutes to go from leaving the boat to joining the customs queue. 60 minutes to move 100 metres to join the queue for customs, and go from within the first 20 off the boat to the last 40 to reach customs. How do you train your staff? Do you train your staff?
If Brittany Ferries did not have a monopoly on the route, I certainly wouldn't use them. This level of poor skill and understanding of controlling traffic flow is not unusual with Brittany Ferries. A polite enquiry with the staff member was met with a very defensive dismissal from a staff member who clearly did not care.

We travelled with Brittany ferries because we wanted to take our dog with us to Europe and they seemed to offer the best way to achieve this.
The check in staff at the ports were excellent and we had taken advantage of pre-registering our dog which they thanked us for doing. The process was incredibly straightforward.
We had booked a dog friendly cabin and this was incredibly clean and very comfortable. Nearby to the cabin was an area where you could take your dog on deck.
The staff were very helpful and pleasant and the food on board Brittany ferries is always excellent.

I have called them many times, wrote them e mail. No answer. I left behind something of sentimental value when I disembarked but no one to speak to or get an answer from.

We recently travelled Plymouth/Santander/Plymouth on the Pont Aven and we were lucky enough to experience another very good pleasant crossing; the weather was hot and the ferry full, but loading and unloading was as normal, some waiting but nothing too onerous - the stairs from the car deck to cabins are steep and can be busy; however, I was very lucky to receive some help with my heavy bag from a member of staff!! The cabin was clean and welcoming! We chose not to eat in the Restaurant. The return journey offered much the same experience and lovely warm calm sailings both ways. Staff were all very pleasant and shops to browse.
We purchased the Premium Wi-Fi package for 2 devices; it was OK but some poor reception at times, although good value.
We travelled with our dog and as always getting in lifts to deck 10 can sometimes be challenging with so many pets travelling; and on the return journey plenty of time is given to return your dog to the car. Parking on the car decks can be challenging when cars are parked so closely to each other and negotiating with overnight bags through narrow pathways can be difficult. But not a lot can be done just something to be aware of!
Only negative point on the return journey was the kennels; a blocked drain made walking your dog through very wet floors somewhat unpleasant!
Overall a very good experience!

I am 93 yrs have a heart problem and limited use of left arm. I requested assistance. Arrived at Plymouth was told to take a seat. A reservation clerk came and said .. the manager said we do not help with luggage. I was astonished as I travel often to France to visit my son. Then a Brittany Ferry worker in orange uniform came, took my bag and was a delight. Since my return I have endeavoured to make a formal complaint, many emails, many ‘phone calls, all unanswered. If they offer assistance to disabled .. what assistance .. do they intend carrying the passenger, minus their luggage? Obviously I cannot travel without luggage. Until now, this service has been amazing .. why the change .. I didn’t request a wheelchair as I didn’t wish to be a nuisance, as I can walk… In all the years I have travelled with Brittany Ferries it has been excellent. Why no reply to my complaint, and more importantly why this discrimatory decision against the elderly/disabled.

Hi - we are looking at booking a dog kennel crossing to Santander, but we are really concerned about the kennel security on board / or lack of.
We have read and also seen videos on YouTube that show anyone can enter the kennel room regardless of if they have a dog kennelled in there. There is a video filmed on the Pont Aven filmed by someone entering the kennels and the main entrance door is actually tied back, which is obvs unacceptable!
I have called Brittany Ferries and been told that you are given a key card to enter the kennel area, if so at least then only people who have kennelled pets can go in there, can someone confirm if that is correct?
We wouldn't leave a bag unattended and we certainly wouldn't dream of leaving our dog in an insecure environment, so we'd really appreciate a first hand experience, hopefully someone may be able to put our minds at rest.
FYI no dog friendly cabins available for any sailings we are considering.
Thank you

When is the earliest I can board the 23:00 Portsmouth-Bilbao ferry ?
I'm travelling by Motorcyle to Spain at the end of March. The ferry departs Portsmouth at 23:00 so want to know how early I can board the ferry so I'm not sat outside in the cold night air for and unnecessarily long time.
All I can find online is about the minimum check-in times, but nothing about maximum checkin times or the earliest I can board the ferry - which is what I really care about.
Anyone got any insight?

Usual 60 mins before departure is the latest check in. There is a small mall with shops and cafe at the terminal that you can sit in a lot of passengers use it

No idea, not interested in dogs. The human accommodation is well suited to dogs. But not humans. Similarly the food. Except if I did have a dog, I would feed it something better than what the humans get. Best advice is to avoid the Pont Aven completely.

How can you book Commodore Cabins when they are not shown?

Unfortunately if they do not show then none are available to book! They are very popular ! Brittany Ferries now offer a cabin availability search, it can be helpful 😀 just put it into a browser.....

We are sailing from Bilbao on a Saturday at 13.30 with our Motorhome.
Can we check in the afternoon before and spend the night in the waiting lanes? We have our own facilities.
Thank you.

Depending on your time of travel you won't miss out on breakfast, lunch or dinner. We boarded for sailing on the 5th of August at 20:00 from Portsmouth and we had dinner, the restaurant was still opened till around 11pm.
Please see information from Brittany website. Hope this helps.
"Will the restaurant be open when I travel?
(COVID-19) To ensure the safety of both our passengers and crew, life on board has changed - new procedures are in place and facilities may be limited.
The restaurant opening times vary according to the ships' departure and arrival times' and the length of the crossing. Exact opening times will be on display outside each food outlet.
Generally on day sailings the self service restaurant is open for the duration of the crossing, on overnight sailings it remains open until late serving hot and cold dishes.
For the 4 ferries (Pont Aven, Normandie, Bretagne and Mont St Michel) which have a la carte restaurants, these are generally open at set times during day sailings. On overnight sailings on Pont Aven and Bretagne, the restaurant opens for a limited time. Restaurants will be open for breakfast on overnight sailings.
The information above is a guide only. At certain times of the year, the a la carte restaurant/s may not open at all. Please contact us for specific details.
Bonjour
Cordialement
Hi, our crossing from Portsmouth is at 11.15pm, can we park (Car and caravan!) early evening at the port and wait. or is there any where local we can park up.
Thanks
