My daughter was as fascinated as me and asked a variety of questions- I mean after all it's not everyday you... More

The feeling of peace and tranquility is so refreshing. I visit the abbey and its grounds regularily. An added bonus is the meals in the restaurant. More

We spent a morning here at Buckfast Abbey, but we could've spent a day. The abbey itself is getting a wonderful makeover - the outside almost completed except for the tower. Having visited Devon many times and yet this was our first visit to this wonderful and peaceful place, Still run by monks (The Monastic Shop) is a must, with a great range of products. The abbey itself is so peaceful, photography is allowed but not (Flash), but i noticed others ignoring this. Be ready for the "Stunning" stained glass window... More

When I heard the word Abbey, I was expecting the usual old building set in beautiful scenery with echoes of the long gone monks/nuns who once inhabited it....I couldn't have been more wrong. This Abbey wasn't built until the early 1900's and it is still run by monks. It has a very unusual exterior (which I have to be honest... More
