The Open Air Museum has something for everyone. A huge rural area, circled by a tram way and road conveys visitors from sites of Georgian to Edwardian NE life. Buildings and artifacts collected all over the NE of England have been reconstructed and populated by costumed guides. Drink in the Pub, watch sweets made or kids experiencing the discipline of... more

I am sorry to all you people who love this and enjoy yourself but I had read the reviews before I went and thought my family would love it.....how wrong I was. We were visitng the area for the weekend and only wanted to visit for one day yet paid £45 for an annual family pass which will never be... more

First of all make sure you have plenty of time to visit this attraction. There are many different areas to visit with lots of old fashioned items to see and members of staff dressed in the era who happily describe what is going on and answer questions. The site is extensive and accessible by tram with walking or you can... more

i loved this attraction, the weather was'nt brill but there was plenty to keep us busy. A farm, coal mine, school, town, station and the trams was definatley worth £16. Everyone was dressed in period costume which adds to the experience, and there were lots of demonstrations taking place such as baking, washing and gardening. Well worth a visit especially... more

I decided to visit Beamish on my way south from Edinburgh. My GPS guided me to it, because I did not see even one road sign! It is in a very rural location. At £16 I thought it was somewhat overpriced, but there is a lot to see there. You really need a full day (they open at 10am in... more

Went here in the half term week and was surprised that the price was only £5 per adult. (Normally £6). There has been the addition of a few new things since I was here last time about 4 years or so ago. They are still investing money what is always good to see. Overall a very good value day out... more

I love Beamish. I have been so many times. It's a little pricey, but you see why you pay the price when you get there (in the summer especially). You require a full day in Beamish to appreciate it all. The attractions are great. They include tram rides, going down a mine, old town centre, farm, farmhouses and visiting Edwardian... more

Read some of the reviews above and just seem that people are looking for a boring museum where you stand and look at things. This is so different this is a working, moving and living museum and very much unlike any others. I own an annual pass and return on a very regular basis, I'm not too lazy to walk... more

I have visited the Museum since I was tiny and there is something magical about the place. The people who work there are very helpful and thats the way the Museum works. If you talk to the demonstrators or tram drivers they usually cheer up your day no matter what the weather, putting the world to rights and reminiscing about... more
