For my birthday recently, we took the train down to Brighton in the evening, had a reasonable meal, and then went for a walk starting from the pier and heading towards Hove. It was a bit bracing, but very pleasant. A few other couples wandering along and taking photos of the unsettled sunset and stormy sky.

It was rather cold and windy but that did not dispell the fun of just walking the pier. It is giagantic!!!

St James Street..... free Cabaret !! sit outside Bella Restaurant and have a great cup of coffee and watch the Local Idiots !! ....Well worth it ....

I love the atmosphere of Brighton Pier and seeing everyone enjoying the good old-fashioned entertainment of the fairground rides, slot machines, the noise and laughter and the'must have' seaside rock, icecreams and candyfloss. A must-do in Brighton.

Having got over the sudden change in the weather from torential rain and very strong wind to warm sunshine, another stroll here was a definite bonus. Still much the same as when I stayed with my grandparents in the 50's-always a trip down memory lane-the beach bars/cafes are a welcome addition to sit and muse over a drink!

Difficult to critic the pier when it had the definate disadvantage of being wet and windy. However the indoor arcade amusements were attracting folk. Some light snack booths (ice-cream, doughnuts, crepes etc) but the larger rides weren't really working in the driving rain. Great view of the seafront. I have done this sooo many times , by foot, bike, roller blades. I love the peter pan swings & cafe and the ovingdean gap cafe. I don't like the lack of clarity for bikes and walkers...bikes ought to have a marked out cycle lane as they use it more that walkers.
