Lots of original furniture and artefacts. Tea/coffee and cakes provided by church next door, and the church itself is interesting. Everyone very helpful. More

The house is a time warp with little changed in 400 years. NT have not over restored this house which entirely correct. Facilities match this so don't expect a lavish tea room! More

Not the usual NT property - handwritten signs as well as the usual enthusiasm from the volunteers. Worth a visit - we especially loved the lambs in the field opposite that were bouncing up and down like they had springs in their little legs! More

Really interesting family home, untouched for years. The last owner was an old lady who ended up living in only 3 of the many rooms, shutting the rest of for at least 20 years. No tea shop here so take a drink and plenty of places near car park to picnic. More

Nothing has been renovated just conserved. Look out for the priests hole. More

We turned up at 12.30 and got timed entry tickets for 2.30 so went and had leisurely lunch at Daylesford. House was a time capsule - althouhg not sure about the "preservation" rather than "restoration" argument - does the former owner's TV and crime thrillers really add to the experience now it is no longer occupied by the family. However... More

A beautiful Jacobian house, due to the relative poverty of it's subsequent owners it has remained largely unrestored for the last 400 years. Tucked away down quiet country lanes visiting means you need to make an effort to get to Chastleton but it is well worth the drive. Entry is by timed tickets which means you flow through the house... Since the 16th century the owners were too poor to update and modernise it in the latest fashion and so the old interior and furnishings are authentic. It is tucked away down a narrow lane, very romantic and surrounded by beautiful countryside. More
