The last and surviving wife of King Henry VIII, she came to live at Sudeley after his death and is now entombed in our church, St Mary’s, which is open to visitors. We will be celebrating her extraordinary life throughout the 2012 season – a film introduced by Sir David Starkey will introduce a new exhibition and there will be talks, Tudor Fun Days, Archery, Literary events and plenty more. Sudeley’s unique Gardens are amongst the finest in England. Our annual Rose Week in June features the centrepiece Queens Garden, which sits on the original Tudor Parterre and billows with hundreds of varieties of old fashioned roses. Overall Sudeley boasts ten stunning gardens, which we are constantly improving and evolving with the help of our design consultant, the eminent Sir Roddy Llewellyn. As well as all of this we have a giant wooden play fort for our younger visitors to enjoy, exhibitions, a coffee shop and Pheasantry. Tours of the private family apartments are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. New for 2012 is a Wildlife Trail, and we will also be welcoming some new arrivals to the Pheasantry – Barn and Snowy Owls. We look forward to welcoming you to Sudeley. « less

During a holiday last week in the Cotswold, we visited Sudeley Castle after reading about the current Katherine Parr exhibition. We paid the extra amount to buy a conoisseur ticket and consider this money well spent! We began with a guided tour around part of the castle with an expert guide who imparted his knowledge with a touch of humour,... More

Loved this place especially the gardens which were excellently laid out and maintained. As one would expect plenty of history going on here so if you like something which expels a historic atmosphere then this place is a must visit especially on a nice day More

The castle itself is not your usual castle but a very Victorian restoration of a Tudor house. Along with the ruins of earlier buildings it looks very charming. The house contains some quite elaborate and well done exhibitions about the Tudor characters associated with the house. But the rest of the house is only occasionally open to view - the... More

The exhibitions are contained within the part of the castle that dates back to the c15 with some restoration work undertaken in the c19. The Dent-Brocklehurst families and Lord and Lady Ashcombe still live at the castle which is open for Connoisseur Tours every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. More

Our experience would suggest just paying to see the lovely gardens as the exhibition whilst interesting does not justify the price and does not give you access to the main castle rooms which are private. More

Glad you enjoyed your visit to the gardens. Connoisseur Tours are available of the private apartments (in which Lady Ashcombe and her family live) on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays for those visitors who wish to see inside. More

Wounderfull gardens and walks around a very historic castle. The gardens are best seen in May as it gets crowded with walkers and sightseers. home to a queen of England who is buried in the church. Henry the 8th loved this place and brought his girls there. Take a look at the village too. All in all a great place,... More

We had to park in mud and then walk up a muddy field to the entry point - we were not impressed at all - and this put us in a very negative mood. Gravel areas were cordoned-off. To cap it all, we went to visit the castle only to find that we could only visit a small part of... More

Disappointed that you didn't visit and I am sure your negative mood would have improved if you had done so. This was the week following the Spring Grand Sale and a fortnight of the worst weather the venue had seen since 2007; the previous week-end had seen in excess of 5,000 visitors to the site and the car park suffered... Not worth visiting. I was not going to comment on our visit to Sudeley Castle until I received an email from Tripadvisor and read the reviews. I found it very difficult to believe the wonderful writeups some people gave as it compared very differently from our experience. The less complimentary reviews echoed our experience when my husband and I visited... More

You have my assurance that no complaint of this nature has been received - I deal with all complaints personally as it is only by receiving feedback such as this that we can improve things for our visitors. Signage has been improved since your visit. More

The rose garden was all in bloom when we went there. We did do the tour of the castle and thought it was worth it. My son loved the stories about Henry 8th wives and how he got rid of them. The castle was just great inside. Small but quint and had a mystery about it. You could just imagine... More

During our previous visit in October 1997 we went around the castle, but this time the castle was not included in the entrance fee, unless you paid an extra £5.per head for a conducted tour. The gardens are well worth seeing, particularly the Pheasantry area. The church with Katherine Parr`s tomb is very memorable. The Katherine Parr Exhibition is included with David Starkey`s... More
