A plus here is that you can take photos, but not in the 'Education Room', where (among other things) the couch Dickens may have died on is. The reconstruction is effective, and there's enough information to keep you going for a short time, but only a short time: the house is just too small for you to spend much time...

An interesting location worth a short visit. This is just the house he lived it but it is well presented with historical artefacts, stories, facts and figures.

I was really disappointed by this museum.
It cost 4 pound to enter which seems quite expensive considering two of the rooms had nothing in them and I honestly believe they have missed an opportunity particularly as its the 200 anniversary of the author's birth.
It felt like the museum hadn't been finished it off and no thought has gone...

I visited the birthplace of Charles Dickens on the 200th anniversary of his birth. My understanding is that normally the museum would be closed during the winter months, but opened in recognition of this special celebration. The museum was also free on this particular day.

The Charles Dickens Birthplace is a very small house filled with period furniture and painted in period colours. It is not expensive and takes about 30 minutes to see and read everything in the house - if you stretch it out! I enjoyed seeing it and would recommend the trip, but don't expect a huge exhibit.

Visited on 7th February for the 200th birthday celebrations, had to queue for 45 minutes but didn't mind as it was free entry!
