This museum was free to visit and close to the high street, with lots of interesting artifacts. It has a 60's exhibition on which was fun as many of the toys were remembered from my childhood, good for children with hands on exhibits. More

this museum didn't take long to go round and it didn't reflect the entry fee. Wouldn't recommend it. More

There is a lot of serendipity in this museum, you are not sure what you are going to find. They run very good exhibitions about particular time-periods (wartime, the 60s etc). Often overlooked due to the nearby Roman museum but a very good town museum. Unsuitable for the disabled as no lift other than access to ground floor (just not good enougth is it in this day and age?). Lots of education about the area in Roman times. Clothes for the younger members to dress in and get into the era. Close to the centre so a full day in the town is a good idea. Nice park if the weather is good take a picnic and let the kids run around. More
