Great day out and easy to spend a whole day hopping on and off the trains and visiting the places along the route. Lots of facilities with the buffet at Romney serving a good range of snacks. Good fun for any age.

In 1963 I stayed as a 6 year old boy with my family @ the now disused Mathiesons Golden Sands Holiday Camp @ St Marys bay near Dymchurch.
As a special treat we had a trip on the RH&D railway from a now disused station outside the camp to Dungeness .As a consequence I have no recollection of travelling the...

An absolute 'must' if you get the chance. Lots of interesting places to stop off at on the round trip, and simply the best way to spend a day in this area

I'm only rating this 1 of 5 as it might save you making the same mistake I did.
The train ride, staff and everything about it were fantastic.
However, the ticket seller at Hythe said have the Fish and Chips at Dungeness for lunch. I love fish and chips, and look forward to it, so what a great idea.
However,...

Had an excellend afternoon travelling the full length and back of this little railway, starting from Hythe to Dungeoness and back. The steam locomotives are very impressive, and beautifully engineered. Go on the 2nd weekend in March and the last train of the day we had the carriage to ourselves, despite the unseasonably warm weather.
Couldn't take the smile off...

Good day out but it is quite expensive so a bit of a treat! The museum is worth a visit as well.

We went on the railway in September. Carriages were smaller than we expected and we learned to sit nearer the back due to the smoke smell.
We have a 3 year old so we decided to go all the way to Dungeness first. Dungeness itself was completely different to any part of Kent I have seen before and we have...

From terminus to terminus this train runs for over an hour, with several useful intermediate stops, so we opted for a day pass (£13 for seniors, no charge for two-year-olds), which was good value. The first stop at which we alighted was New Romney, where there is a railway museum, a play area and a useful cafe. Then on to...

A pleasant train ride, on a narrow gauge railway which is obviousy well cared for and maintained. The scenery is for the most part rear fences and gardens of houses that back onto the track and of caravan sites but no glimpses of the sea. Nearer Dungeness the landsape turns bleak with expanses of shingle and odd rough shanty like...
