Wow ! The history and atmosphere made this a special visit . It was quite expensive though and we would've liked to see the gardens which were open that day , apparently this only happens once a year ! However this would've added another £30 on top of the admission charge for our party and although we would love to... More

It is an amazing cathedral in size, history and contents. As to the size, one gets the impression that it is not one, but several churches that have been built one on the other and adjacent to each other. It has an impressive Romanic crypta and two immense gothic halls divided from each other through a "jube". Most interesting are... More

I was privileged to attend the sung Eucharist in honor of Pentecost and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and then tour the private gardens. What more could one ask of a place so steeped in English Christian history! Amazing experience. More

Canterbury Cathedral was recommended a visit by the Rick Steves book if we were doing a day trip from London to Dover. He was right. The Cathedral was beautiful. It has a lot an interesting history with the Black Prince and Bishop Thomas Beckett. Henry IV is buried there, which is worth a photograph to show family and friends (since... More

Even though there is an entrance fee, this cathedral is well worth a visit. Even though it is often busy, it retains a peaceful, calm atmosphere. More

Canterbury Cathedral is quite extensive and each element offers a different character. Perhaps the most striking part of the Cathedral is free - that's the view form a hilltop nearby. I recommend the University campus, Chartham Hatch from the Canterbury end of The Pilgrim's Way (see it as the Pilgrims did), or the playing fields at the top of Westgate... More

Whether you are religious or not this is a monument to man. To think how this was was built without any technology is incredible. To stand in the center of the cathedral and look up is amazing. I have seen the complaints about the cost of access but the cost of maintenance of such a spectacular building and to do... More
