The Chatham Dockyards are an excellent attraction with plenty to occupy at least half a day. From the RNLI collection of old lifeboats to the Victorian Ropery there is plenty to keep everyone interested. Whilst we were visiting there were several school parties who were kept engaged by very knowledgable guides. Things not to miss include a conducted tour of... More

Facsinating insight into a dockyard that operated in Nelsons time, with more recent exhibits of Naval vessels from the 20th century. Don't miss the ropery More

It was great so many people were in vintage costume. The air raid siren going off every so often was really eery and the Air raid shelter visit was well worth the money! We had cups of tea and a bun from the NAAFI we went on a submarine, and we witnesssed the re-enactment of the raid on the docks... More

We visited this venue on a cold day, we had a nice coffee in the lovely warm restaurant which gave us the strength to carry on! We visited the Ropery which amazingly has not really changed its process for years. The team there were well informed, friendly, happy to answer my questions, and a good laugh. We were lucky enough... More

Took my Grandsons along aged 5 and 6 and they thoroughly enjoyed it, as did my husband..The admission price is a little on the expensive side, but the family ticket gives you unlimited access for... There's loads to see here. It's a all a bit higgledy-piggledy but that does not detract from it.The site is huge so it can take it.Highlight was probaly the tour of the sub.All tours wwere well organised. We also got a preview of a new galley, which was good. They undersell the fact that they have the office where charles dickens's father... More

Although we were initially concerned by the admission price, tickets were valid for a year which benefits the local population and we were able to manage 2 visits. Of particular interest was the ropewalk with a continuous history dating back to the 1600's. It produced the 30 miles or so of rope necessary for a fighting ship such as the... More
