Not entirely sure what I expected....but was slightly underwhelmed! Until you climb to top...eek it's high! And image it rolling down the mountain to its resting place! It's about a 5-10 min walk from car park, and only a 5-10 minute site, so def do something else on the way home! More

This is well worth the short trek to see it. Great views and you are able to climb on top for even better views. More

Visited the stone recently, payed £3.60 to park in the National Trust car park then a walk to the stone, down steep steps then along uneven ground, definitely not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. Stone itself very impressive, but probably best to call in on your way somewhere else! More

I remember going to see the Bowder Stone on a school trip and now I live 6 miles away from it. Interesting to see but car parking anywhere in the Lake District is so expensive! More

The Bowder Stone is a really interesting glacial deposit. The stone is a short walk from the car park and is huge. There is a wooden ladder up to the top of the stone which is safe to climb to the top for a photo opportunity, definitely worth a visit. Look out for the striations on the rocks by the... More

yea i would agree the parking is a lot thats why I ended up with a warning ticket for parking outside the car park lol but on a posotive note it has encouraged me to join the annual scheme wich is pretty amazing value for £22 if ur under 25. An hour at most is all thats needed at bowder... More

We wanted a short stop to see the Bowder stone, but were put off by the extortionate charge by the National Trust for the car-park. It is £3-60 for 2 hours and you cannot buy anything less than 2 hours - our stop was less than 30mins - walk down to the stone - climb up and look around it... More
