My husband and i recently walked Catbells and what lovely views we got!! The sun was shining and not a rain drop in sight (very rare i know). It was a great day and I would reccomend it to anyone!! I can not wait to walk my next one!!! more

Catbells is one of the most enjoyable mountains to walk without it being too strenuous. You can start this walk from Hawes End,which i did,or start from Barrowdale Valley. As soon as you start climbing Catbells you quickly begin to get stunning views of Derwent Water and the Borrowdale Valley below. The path is easy to follow and is well... more

I agree that this is a great walk, but I suggest you do it backwards to avoid the difficult parking near Hawes End. Start at Manesty. If you're not staying within walking distance - see my accommodation review - there is some parking on the roadside near the farm or in Grange or you could get the launch to Brandelhow.... more

Catbells has to be one of the areas best walks. ( take the kids they will love the challange) Start from the launch which leaves keswick and walk to the foot of the fell from the landing stage. Or park at the foot past Portinscale but be early as gets full quickly. Make cetrain you have a flask & sandwich... more

Catbells is well worth a visit - you can walk it from Portinscale or start from the Borrowdale Valley. The easier route is via Portinscale. It's not too strenuous and the views you get are fabulous.
