Lincoln Castle is in very close proximity to Lincoln Cathedral so both should be visited on the same day, good photo opportunities of the cathedral can be gained by visiting the castle too. More

Enjoyed walk round battlements and prison was interesting especially the chapel which was very intimidating! Feel it needs more 'atmosphere' staff should maybe dress in period costumes and there could be recorded voices in rooms and 'soldiers' shouting in battlements etc More

Although not as impressive as some of the castles in England, do not miss this. There is so much history that happened here. You can walk along the castle walls, see prisoner carvings in one of the towers, and in the old prison building, see the Lincoln copy of the Magna Carta and the Forest charter. Also an interesting exhibit... More

Allow at least half a day for your visit. The free guided tour, well worth taking, lasts at least one and a half hours and is well worth going on. An amazing experience. More

The Castle grounds are exctensive and well-maintained. It's beautiful. It's currently undergoing massive building as they have gained a £21M grant to build the wall so that you can completely encircle the castle, and also include lifts and disabled access. The prisons were interesting and I agree they were spooky too. There are tours run by volunteers, that should take... More

I live locally and never get tired of taking my visitors to Lincoln Castle. On a nice sunny day you can easily spend a good 4 hours strolling around the grounds and investigating the various nooks and crannies. The Prison is a really unique experience. You get some great views from the Castle Walls and work is going on at... More
