The cathedral is the biggest I have ever seen! It is free to get in and if you time it right you may hear the organ being played which is amazing! The organ is so loud and creepy sounding it really gives off a great atmosphere in the cathedral. Great views of Liverpool from the top of the tower and... more

The cathedral can be seen from every vantage point on the city. It gnawed at my curiosity. The Anglican Cathedral is an enormous sandstone building constructed to plans drawn up by Giles Gilbert Scott (who also designed the red public telephone boxes). I visited Liverpool Cathedral with friends from Liverpool who assured me Southern California had nothing like it. Boy! were they right. We walked up to it and the scale of the building was enormous. The Anglican Cathedral dominates the skyline of Liverpool, just along Hope street from it's Catholic counterpart. The towering vaulted ceiling is magnificent - it is the largest cathedral in Britain.
