Our family took a 2-hour tour of the National Gallery in London with Philippa (our boys are 11, 9 & 5). What a great way to see the museum! I appreciated a few things: (1) it was a private tour with just our family (2) we were asked beforehand via e-mail what specific interests our children had, and the tour... More

My sons (7 and 10) and I had a wonderful and educational tour of the British Museum with our guide Caroline, who was energetic and engaging. When I first read about the "British museum for families tour", I was curious about how a museum as large and packed as the British museum could be made fun for kids. Would they... More

Visiting a museum can be very "dusty". The eye is the main sense working. It looks quite bi-dimensional: you and the object are facing each other. Well, that was before Context Travel. We had a truly vivid museum experience with Caroline. She didn't just had a deep historical knowledge she made us travel in the context of the British Museum.... More

This was my 4th Context Tour but first in London (others were Rome, Pompeii. and Paris). Arrived early for my 10am tour and was glad I did, the market opens at 8am but by 11:30am it is choc-a-block heaving with people. Our Context docent was great as they usually are, taking us to the best cheese shop in the market... More

My family & I took a tour of the British Museum in January 2012 through Context Tours. The four of us, including two young kids, had a really wonderful time. What truly made the tour was our guide: 3rd-generation museum man, Lawrence Owens. First off, he's a real archaeologist! The closest thing you'll get to Indiana Jones! Because of our... More

Dear Andrew, Great to hear you enjoyed your visit to the British Museum with Lawrence. The closest thing to Indiana Jones. We love that! Best, Context More

I've taken architecture tours with Context in Paris and Barcelona but the winter months demanded something indoors for my December London trip. Took the Tate Modern tour with Eowyn and was absolutely delighted with the experience. She was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic and I felt like I learned so much that I will take with me to other museums. I... More

Workerbee3, Thanks for the feedback. Eowyn is a treasure. Not only does she lead excellent walks, but she also does a lot of internal training with other docents on art conservation, her specialty. Sorry about our time issues ;) We just love what we do, and often get carried away! Best, Context More

We spent a week in London and went with Context on 2 of their 3-hour tours: City Walk and Tower of London. Both tours had good/knowledgable guides (Alice & Sue), they were both very knowledgable about histories of these sites (& more). We like Context, we also took couple similar tours with them in Paris, and like Alice and Sue,... More

Just had my first London Context tour, after having used them five times this fall in Rome. They didn't disappoint! I did the "Introduction to London Architecture" with Alice, and it was lovely. Alice knows not just architecture, but also history and design and all sorts of other little tidbits. She was friendly and answered every one of my many... More

We did 2 'group' tours of London; the 'Portrait of a City' and the 'British Museum', and then were lucky enough to be invited to visit the 'Immigration Museum' with the context guides! To begin with our communication with Petulia, the contact for Context London, was great. We wanted to book a group tour last minute and she was helpful,... More
