Even better, your guide, Declan, is a former professional actor and will treat you to some of Shakespeare's speeches in the appropriate locations. « less

No matter that we dodged showers and puddles because Declan's enthusiasm for his subject shone through. Almost at once we were off the beaten track and into the hidden byways that make London so fascinating. As he declaimed passages of Shakespeare (with an actor's expertise but also very naturally), it was easy to blot out the traffic and imagine the... More

Raayland College organizes a Shakespeare trip to London for our brightest fifteen-year-old students every year. We have included the Blood and Tears Walk once and the Shakespeare City Walk twice in our trip. Every tour was a big success with our students. Declan manages to capture and keep the students’ attention. The Shakespeare Tour is very educational and entertaining. We... More

I have just returned from this walk and can highly recommend it to everyone regardless of how little or how much they already know about Shakespeare. Declan speaks with great knowledge, love and passion for the Bard and his enthusiasm is very infectious. I wonder if the meeting venue details are still correct: we met today at Blackfriars. More

I took my mom on this walk because every time she visits, I'm at a loss of what to do with her (she visits often). I have studied Shakespeare intensively and have done self-guided Shakespeare walks in London so I thought I would already know everything Declan said. To my surprise there were one or two things I had no... More

I really enjoyed Declan's Shakespeare City Walk. He is very knowledgeable and clearly loves Shakespeare's work. He is open-minded about discussing the man's life, and different theories about his beliefs. More

Declan is a very knowledgeable tour guide and took us to many of the spots in London connected with Shakespeare. He has a wealth of knowledge about Shakespeare's life and connections that make this one of the best and most interesting tours I have taken in London in the last 25 years. More

Declan McHugh takes you to parts of Shakespeare's London you would never find on your own and he brings the Bard to life in the very places he lived, worked, revelled, acted, prayed and roamed, reciting from the plays/sonnets along the way and giving historical facts of Will's life & the history of the time. If during your stay in... More

Having been on Declan's Horror Walk a couple of times now I was intrigued by his Friday Shakespeare walk, so with the added bonus of going along for £5 instead of the normal £9, we went for it. There were only six people, including us, on the tour, which in my opinion is a perfect number, too few and it... More

I don't have words to describe this incredible, magical, fantastic tour! I've always been fascinated by Shakespeare, but after this tour I was delighted... In May 2011 I, my husband, my sister and my mother-in-law did this wonderful tour and returned to Brazil really delighted! Declan you are really an excellent professional Shakespearean. Thank you! I took Declan's tour in April. It was informative and entertaining and Declan did a great job of taking us to little known sports of London and sharing his knowledge with us. I would certainly recommend this tour for anyone who would like to know more about Shakespeare in London. Declan is a great tour guide. Next time I am... More
