The Courtauld is a well kept secret and the best gallery for great familiar paintings in a small gallery. Just take in two rooms per visit. It is magic. Don't miss it

The collection of the Courtauld Gallery is based on the collection of one man. He happened to be collecting at the turn of the last century when many of the paintings we love were available cheaply, so if one had an eye and interest, one might collect all the Impressionists painting in Paris plus gems from medieval, Renaissance and Baroque... Not all that. The Picasso exhibit is all of 10 paintings in a small over crowded room. There was just not much to draw one into the art. We spent 30 minutes and saw it all.

Somerset house is a fabulous building. The collection displayed is not huge, but very impressive. The Picasso display was very interesting & I will take more interest in his work in the future. This is a short visit event.

Located in the Somerset House close to the Thames, the Courtauld Gallery offers a superb collection of Impressionist and Post Impressionist paintings. The current show of Picasso's early work provides a glimpse of his genius; it features an impressive showing of his output at the age of nineteen. Many of the paintings have never been seen in other major Picasso... More

Went to see the permanent collection which is wonderful; not huge but a great collection including some very famous works. Surprised that we could also get into the Picasso exhibition without pre-booking or queueing. This was also fantastic; again a relatively small number of works covering a short period of the artists life but absolutely fascinating

I was really shocked when I stumbled across this place. I had heard of it but always thought it would not have very much to interest. I was proved wrong. The collection is fantastic and unlike the National Gallery you dont have to battle through hoards of tourists.

Went on Friday afternoon and although it was busy I went straight in - no timed ticket. The Picasso rooms are on the top floor and are well arranged; it's great to see such a lot of familiar paintings from his early life. As you come down the stairs the other rooms have paintings from earlier and earlier periods; Room... More

The Picasso exhibition is fast paced and exciting, summing up only a year of painting at the great artist turned 19 and went to Paris for his first show. The explanations are clear and show how Picasso went about building his reputation and his skills, while also giving an idea of the characters and excitement of being an artist in... More

This Gallery, located in Somerset House on the Strand, should be a must visit. Its art collection is excellent and small enough not to overwhelm
