I went to this restaurant with my partner to use up some of our tesco vouchers. The food was delicious, but the maitre'D was, unfortunately, very rude. He left us standing in the freezing cold of the open doorway when he went to check if he could accomodate us; seemed rather annoyed that we'd showed up. Shortly after being seated,... More

Ate at Livebait on Thursday 24th November 2011. We had high hopes after reading the reviews on the TasteCard website and when we arrived and they couldn't find our reservation (we had to point it out on their computer screen) and it looked like they wouldn't be able to accommodate us this only made us more excited! A place this... More

Visited 25/9/11 had starter and main course. Meagre portions, very poor sauces and expensive. The moules maini course was barely big enough as a starter - very poor sauce. The octopus and chorizo should read potato, potato and more potato, chorizo and octopus. Roast cod was good but sauce was attrocious. Don't go here, there are plenty of better lower... More

I thought this was very disappointing. The smoked haddock i had was presented well and tasted satisfactory but was a very small portion and served on a cold plate and only just warm enough. My partner had traditional fish and chips which he was satisfied with but nothing special to justify the price. The service was adequate but then it... More

We dined here using Tesco clubcard vouchers so can hardly complain about getting a 'free' meal. However, we left disappointed. The food imo was quite dull, lacking much flavour, and over priced. Some of it was also luke warm rather than hot. The starter of cajun prawns was nice but £10 for 3 prawns and not a hit of cajun... More

In summary I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, it's soo important to eat sustainably sourced fish & it is hard to find a fish restaurant with such high values as Livebait - all their fish is accredited by Marine Conservation Society. Yes you can probably eat a TEENY bit cheaper in another fish restaurant in London- but you may not agree... More

After trip on the London Eye, a visit to Churchill War rooms and the Clink prison, it was time for a spot of lunch. We were looking for a cheapish snack, or so I thought, until hubby spotted a sign for Lobster outside of Livebait. Why not? we said and were seated at my request, in a booth by the... More

Overpriced mediocre food and a wine list that's just a joke - £30 for a bottle of NZ Sauvignon Blanc! I'm afraid this place just doesn't deliver. It's a typical Private Equity Investment operation - no soul to the place, everything costed to the last bean and delivered with the flare you'd expect from something thought up by a bunch... More

I went ther on October 31 2009. My main course was incomplete - it should have included bread, but the restaurant had run out of bread apparently! At first the waiter denied the dish should have had bread, so we had to call for the menu to show him. Then he revealed that they had no bread. We were still... More

Livebait - The Cut What a lovely restaurant. I booked a table for my partner and I for his birthday. The restaurant is opposite (almost) The Young Vic and you can see it from Southwark Station, the distinctive green neon bulbs lighting up the exterior. The interior decor is wonderful, all tiled in white and green (looks like a fishmongers!),... More
