We visited Bockingham palace in September 2011 to see the royal wedding exhibition. The whole visit was exceptional. Essentially a fancy market. There are some interesting but pricey shops in the area. You're mainly coming for the atmosphere and the entertainment. Go into the main hall to witness some impressive live music, and maybe pick up some light food.

Used to go to Covent Garden back in the '80s and went with our son-in-law who had never been before. It has become v tatty, not as many buskers around and what had been a lovely craft market had become a really trashy hall with tacky products. V disappointed, but there is a saying you should never to back!

It was interesting to see the vendors here but it was really crowded. Went on a Saturday around lunchtime so that's probably why. Also the vendors weren't anything out of the ordinary--a few good ones but otherwise the same stuff you see at flea markets in the US.

Even though it's very touristic, it's a very cool place. There is a very vivid ambiance. A must when coming to London!
