The Park was a short stroll from our Hotel as the day was sunny we decided to sit and eat our packed lunch there was a coffee bar within the park but plenty of benches scattered around the park to sit it was quiet but could still see the London traffic through the trees a little haven only thing that... My big grumble with Russell Square, and with much of central London around a certain time of year, is the London plane tree (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platanus_%C3%97_acerifolia). As pointed out in the article, these trees shed unpleasant feather-like objects which cause considerable irritation when inhaled or when they get into one's hair, clothing, eyes, etc. But the London plane trees aside, Russell... Russell Square is nice enough.. but really it is just another London Square. Russell Square is nice if you haven't got the time to get to and enjoy a larger... More

Lovely to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and walk in the beautiful park with squirrels. Great restaurant for lunch in the one corner of the park. Have a sandwich here before visiting the British Museum. More

We stayed at the Celtic Hotel, just a few steps from the park, and we loved taking time each afternoon to sit in the park. We got lucky and had beautiful weather while we were there and picked up some baked goodies from a nearby bakery (wish I remembered the name!!) to enjoy the afternoon. The different plants and trees... More

This location is a little far (2-3 tube stops) from all the other tourist attractions but I like it. It's not as crowded or noisy. Water and grocery is slightly cheaper, too. More
