The Courtaulds Gallery is within Somerset House on the Strand and contains some of the finest works of Art. Everything from Picasso to Monet and Van Gogh, there is also an extensive display of furniture and other artifacts. The billing in London magazines is all of the Art but none of the crowds. Well worth finding and a treat. More

The Courtauld Gallery has a wonderful collection of Impressionist, Post Impressionist and other paintings, including the Bloomsbury group works. Also a find collection of earlier portraits and some antique furniture. It is not expensive to go into the galleries. The shop is excellent and you can also have snacks in the cafe. During the winter you can watch or take... More

The Courtauld Gallery is located in Somerset House, a huge building beside Waterloo Bridge. Samuel Courtauld left his art collection to the University of London when he died in 1947. This collection is not big, but it has the biggest collection of impressionist and post-impressionist art in London. Among painters represented are Monet, Manet, Degas, Cezanne, Renoir, Van Gogh, and... More

A gem of a gallery containing some fine masterpieces. Free on Monday. Nice courtyard for lunch after a couple of hours wandering among the art. More

Wonderful setting, wonderful paintings. If you love Manet, Monet, Van Gogh, and Cezanne, this is the place for you. You do not get overload or burnout and it is a smaller space. It is free to the public on Mondays from 10 am-2 pm, but there is also more people then too. The courtyard has neat animal head statues. More

We visited the gallery primarily to see Manet's "A bar at the Folies Bergere", but was amazed at how much more there was to see including famous works by Van Gogh, Cezanne, Degas, Renoir & Monet to name a few. I think a definite bonus was visiting mid week as we had plenty of time to view the pictures, without... More

We spent a wonderful couple of hours here on an otherwise busy saturday morning in London. The rooms are well laid out with some really impressive works of art. I originally came to see the famous Manet Bar at the Follies Bergaires and Van Gogh's Bandaged Ear but was very impressed by the whole collection. The 12th and 13th century... More

The Courtauld Institute of art is conveniently located on the Strand as part of Somerset House. The art gallery is much smaller and more intimate than the National Gallery, meaning it is less daunting in terms of scale. You can easily get round in an hour or two. The standard of art on show is second to none regarding the... More
