I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Ham House about a week ago & was very impressed by this beautiful house & gardens. The furniture, paintings & the decor were truly impressive. I would certainly recommend tourists interested in English history to visit this place where there is a distinct presence of the Stuarts starting from King James I. The... More

Ham House is a beautifully preserved mansion with lovely grounds and really helpful, enthusiastic and friendly guides. I would definitely recommend Ham House over other National Trust properties in the area as it is so well preserved and it has such as wonderful unique setting. The gardens are lovely, even at this time of year (April) and the café serves... More

A 400 year old Stuart mansion by the river at Ham, set in fairly ordinary grounds, though the Wilderness garden tour guide tried to make it as interesting as possible. Perhaps Summer is a better time. Inside is definately worth it for the ancient tapestries, furniture and paintings, though the low light levels make it rather gloomy. Some of the... More

Ham House is unusual in that access is usually by tour and only some rooms are open at a given time. The place is very original and unmolested by modern refurbishment, with fascinating old and very delicate furniture requiring light levels to be kept low. The staff clearly love the house, willing to answer questions and share their extensive knowledge.... More

I've enjoyed it better in the summer on a sunny week day when it is less crowded and gloomy inside the house. Having said that it's definintely worth a visit as the gardens are lovely in the late spring and summer. The house itself is looking a bit tired and needing some restoration - many pieces seemed to out for... More

Try and find the time to venture out to Ham near Richmond and go see Ham House. Lovely, small, quite spooky. Well worth a visit. More

Ham house is National Trust through and through and has everything that you would expect to make a day out special, informative, engaging and there is definitely something for everyone here. However it seems to have that something special thrown in that we certainly didn't expect. Best get the negative point out of the way first. I feel a bit... More

This beautiful historic home situated on a lovely stretch the River Thames is truly intriguing and has wonderfully kept gardens which are as they were planned in the 1600's! Ham House was not changed very much over the centuries hence it has most of its original design, furniture, paintings, tapestries etc still as they were. It actually remained in the... More

Unfortunately the house itself was not open the day I walked the Thames path from Kingston to Richmond. It was very disappointing, as I had checked the opening hours of the house before travelling to the UK. There seemed to be some sort of filming going on around the house, so I don't know if this was the reason the... More
