Part way between Parliament Square (Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey) and Trafalgar Square (all worth seeing), the Cenotaph and Downing Street are worth stopping to view, but that's all you can do - take a photo and walk on.

This is now the contrys most famous dedication th those who lost there lives in the 1st war, originaly made of wood and plaster as a tempory focal point, it was instated to its full and present glory practically by national demand. Go see it and respect all that it represents, Spare a thought and a prayer for those gone...

I understand why it is important to remember anyone who has died in a war . . . and the Cenotaph does this. It is at its best when it reminds you of these deaths (necessary or not). Losing a loved one violently is never a good thing.

It's there in the middle of Whitehall with buses and traffic constantly on teh go,but in its simple elegance it is a moving tribute to those who have died in service.
