This pub is full of character. The staff are extremely friendly and the beer is very reasonably priced. It does get busy but the pub is comprised of many smaller rooms, so it feels very intimate. Easily my favourite London pub. Recommended for foreign visitors who want a flavour of the traditional English pub. More

I liked everything about this place....the ornate Victorian decor, the crunchy brown fish (my favorite meal during an entire week in London), the beer, and the friendly servers. It made me go home and read about Princess Louise. I think she would have liked her pub. More

I visited this pub occasionally when I was a student in London in 1984/5. Visiting London again in December 2011 we stayed at Carr-Saunders Hall and walked to the British Museum on a Sunday morning. Looking at the map I realised we weren't far from Holborn so I thought I'd give this old haunt a visit. We arrived at about... More

This was a very pretty pub but extremely crowded. It deserves a look-in and a drink. More

On our last night in London, my roommate and I decided to come here for a few pints, we had a good time there, pints were slightly expensive but the atmosphere on the place was superb, like going back a few centuries on history. More

Absolutly beautiful pub ... great interieur ... this pub you have to visit ... even if you dont like any ale. There are a lot of booths lined up around the bar ... so much glass and mirrors and glazed tiles and wood ... and don't miss the toilets in the basement. It is a Samuel Smith Pub - so... More

After living in London for 5 years, I've become immune to £3.50-£4 pints. This place is almost like stepping back in time with its antique decor and cheap booze prices. Probably one of the better Sam Smith pubs in the city (a chain in the UK) Although don't plan on going with a big group post-5pm, it's usually heaving with... More

This is one of the great historic pubs of London, famous for its remarkable Victorian interior. Something like 90% of the interior are the original fittings from the late 19th century. The real ale is Sam Smiths OBB and this is both good and cheap (only £2.11 a pint). If you could only visit one pub in London, I would... More

Bar staff were simply amazing and a well deserved tip was given. Service was the best I've seen in London! It's probably the best looking bar I've ever been to and the interior of the bars not bad either! Highly recommend! More
