This pub is worth a visit for the magnificent marble decor only. It`s hard to believe that some philistines wanted to tear that place down in the `60s. A good selection of real ales and a fine menu. The beef pie is made with rib steak (you know it is because the bone is in there!). Small but good wine... More

Nice surprise for my wife and I, across the road from our hotel. A small segregated area with great atmosphere is set aside to enjoy a very nice English pub meal; well worth a visit. Next door is the entrance to Black Friars tube Station for those travelling. More

Loved the history of the building, so refreshing to find a pub that is not a chain - the food was quite good as well as the beer selection. New have pub in London. More

We had been recommended this pub by the concierge at the Crowne Plaza City Hotel, just across the road. Although the pub was quite busy, we managed to get a table in the small restaurant part after a small wait. Service was brilliant, especially the waiter in the restaurant, very cheerful and happy chap. Food was great and reasonably priced.... More

The ambience of the Pub is actually what you expect. Lots of history and charme. However, the food had lots to be improved. First of all it took 30 minutes to receive the order, and there were only three tables filled. Moreover, the quality was not what I expected. Veggies were barely coocked, roasted potatoes tasted old and warmed up.... More

Unbelievable atmosphere and history. The pub’s location has a long storied history, read about it on the menus. If you are looking for a unique atmosphere and decorations this is a must visit for foreigners. The inside is all wood paneled with carvings and decorations celebrating its history as a former Dominican Friary. The weather was warm so the out... More

We stopped here during our visit to central London. What a great history this location has enjoyed. A Dominican monastery was located at this site from 1279 to 1539. Because of their black habits they were known as "BlackFriars". In the 16th century the site became the Parliament Chamber of Monastery. It was here in 1529 that King Henry VIII... More

We came to Black Friars because we had read about the cool Art Nouveau interior. We weren't disappointed and loved hanging out with our beer looking at the decor. Food was standard pub food. More

The Blackfriars is how all pubs should look and feel. It has a fabulous decor that other pubs would be envious of and the selection of beers is second to none. There are no blaring TV’s or loud music just plenty of chat. They have a large selection of regular beers along with guest beers which should suit all tastes.... More

Excellent little pub down by the river. Sadly, the nearest tube station is closed so it is about a ten minute walk to the pub itself. The beer is good, the fish and chips VERY good and the little corner booths (theres only 2!) are great for people watching and chatting intimately with whomever you are with More
