Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited the Vauxwall East center alot earlier this year and was a member before I moved out of London. But while I was there I had a really bad injury which resulted in an ambulance coming as I couldnt move off the mat. The staff stayed by me the whole time, they were extremely compassionate and caring to the point that even the ambulance crew were saying that they've never seen a climbing gym so caring with an injured climber. This experience, despite an awful injury, really made me appreciate the staff working there and 100% is the safest I've felt at a gym. The routes are great aswell and an amazing variety but that is nothing compared to the compassion and experience of the staff if something does, unfortunately, goes wrong

I visited the Vauxwall East centre recently for the first time with my partner, and whilst the climbing walls were okay, we were completely let down by the staff.
One staff member in particular treated us both horrendously. He was incredibly patronising, arrogant, rude and condescending to my partner in relation to her climbing ability, and after engaging with us both in an appalling manner, we then witnessed him go into the staff room and mock us to the other staff members (laughing and pointing at us).

Neither of us have ever quite experienced front-of-house service like it before, and it completely ruined our experience. It goes without saying we will not be returning, which is a shame.

Great location. I've been climbing here regularly for 18 months and is a great location particularly after work.

After a recent injury the Staff (Beccy) looked after us brilliantly. A very confident first aider, she was very much appreciated.

Love this place! The routes, the people, the staff - all great! They have done a remarkable job in these difficult times of covid, too: besides limiting numbers they are keeping the window walls open to improve ventilation, and sell liquid chalk with +70% alcohol. They do not mandate its use, but they are selling the 250ml bottle for £5 which is a better deal than what i could find online, and a great way to help people transition to it (even if recent research shows that chalk deactivates the coronavirus on the holds)

Love Vauxwall East, the larger one further from the station

Friendly staff and ambience

Would be 5 stars but, a touch too pricey (£13 vs £11 standard London climbing gym charge) and difficulty is polarised - either easy or tough, not too much in the middle.

But def worth a visit just to see Alec Honnold’s famous boulder problem

This climbing gym makes the most of its under the arches location. Easy to get to from Vauxhall station and with a good sized changing room and spacious storage. Little cafe and some spaces to sit and rest your hands after a session. Some very interesting problems with a great mix of static and dynamic moves catered for.

We wanted to try a new climbing place, but won't be coming back there. First we went into VauxWest and the staff were really lovely but it was super busy. So we went to VauxEast -- big mistake. The staff were very arrogant in the way they spoke to us, and one guy was rude when I asked them to explain something in the extensive health & safety questionnaire. Rather than helping me to understand by answering the question, he was smirking and openly laughing at me. Our next (second) visit is supposed to be half price (the staff members didn't tell us about that either, we had to find out for ourselves). But because of the way they treat their customers, there won't be a second visit. We definitely won't be back.

Visited here with my 12 daughter whilst on holidays for her weekly climbing “fix”. Nice set up and plenty of climbs.

I went as a spotter which I have done many times before. I totally get the need for H & S questionnaire but it was a bit over the top, especially trying to get a specific word to questions, eg what do you do before you climb? I said you warm up by stretching and when quizzed further, then suggested running on the spot. But that was not enough, I was quizzed further until I said the magic “cardio” word. Another question about leaving things on the mat - I advised this was dangerous for tripping hazards / falling on and nothing should be left on mat, however the magic word appeared to be “ locker” i.e. put your things in a locker- a bit ironic when they were already climbers in and bottles/ bags/ mobiles lying around the place.

So, I 100% get safety, but try to be a little less pedantic.

Climbing was great though and was the main thing

These guys are awesome. The staff, the walls, the atmosphere, everything.

My bouldering has improved immensely since I became a member here and it is so friendly, everyone is chatty and will help you if you ever get stuck and that’s just the members!

The staff are amazing, always happy to do anything you need, give great advice on technique and everyday you come in they’re smiling!

The membership cost is really worth it if you go twice/three times a week, I have absolutely loved my time here!
