Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I attended the tomorrows ghosts festival and was very disappointed with certain aspects of the venue.
Where was the signage indicating where the ‘box office’ was located?
When I say box office, I’m referring to the doorway from where the wristbands were issued, the one which I had to queue for over twenty minutes in the rain. Yet the front of the building had some kind of reception area which would have been ideal.
I telephoned the ‘box office’ continuously today to ascertain the door opening time but all I received was an Ansa machine message, to which no one telephoned me back.
What exactly is the point of a telephone number that goes unanswered? Why not state the times at which it is manned?
In terms of balance, the cafe was well stocked and bar queuing wasn’t too bad.

We went to see Lindisfarne and the show was excellent. Lots of songs that you remember, some you don't, all sung and accompanied well.
The pavilion is little more than a, shed with seats and a stage but it was an ideal venue as it's not too large and the atmosphere is there. The seats are not numbered and so it's a free for all with the attendants acting like sergeant majors ordering everyone to move up and not leave gaps.

Looking for non-seasidy things to do in Whitby, I booked tickets to see CASH ON DELIVERY, and what a stroke of good fortune that was - it was superb! Funny to the last minute, brilliantly acted by all. It never faltered and was the best evening of the week. Well done!

Just been to watch Cash on Delivery by the Whitby Amateur Dramatics. It was absolutely hilarious. Both the quality of the actor and the fantastic script made for a great night out, if you fancy a couple of hours of laughter then it’s highly recommended!!!

Went for a Blues Festival with several acts. We eventually got sets as they had not put enough out, which seems odd when it is a ticket event. Venue was reasonable. Easy to get a drink at the bar.

Large Victorian building right on the sea front with concert/theater hall with main stage and modern equipment. Seats around 350 at full capacity so not a massive venue but the stage is rather large and seating a little more spacious than other venues I've attended. Has a large bar and snack area however I didn't see any hot food being served such as burgers or hotdogs. The building inside is a little dated but clean and tidy with everything still working as it did back in the day. I enjoyed my show the production went smoothly and the show was good! I would visit again

Absolute disappointment.

Tamla Motown and Soul weekender, rescheduled from 2020. Been to this event three times before, anticipating a good weekend, the experience was a total disappointment on so many levels. The sound was very poor, old equipment, overdriven to produce an unpleasant distorted sound, like a youth club disco. No atmosphere, stage was bare, no screens , no attempt at making it a show. DJ's behind a screen, could have been a computer doing it all. DJ's speech incomprehensible due to the poor sound system. The venue is tired and shabby, the beer was very limited in choice and seriously overpriced (although the bar staff were lovely).
This being said, the major issue was the music programming. It has always been the case that the upper floor is for Tamla and other soul genres and the downstairs floor is Northern Soul. This year there we heard very little Tamla, the DJ's were playing Northern Soul upstairs and the live act on Friday Night was exclusively Northern Soul. Stallholders who always attend this event were commenting on the fact that the music upstairs was mainly Northern Soul. On Saturday we sat out more Northern Soul until we left around 11.30 pm, very disappointed. We hadn't got what we had come for. On the way out my wife asked the people on the front desk, who were representing the promoters about the lack of Tamla tunes. She was met with an attitude which was at first dismissive and then quickly turned hostile and aggressive; basically mocking and denying that we had any cause to complain. Subsequently we wrote to the company and received back dismissive and sneering replies. The issue of staff hostility was not answered even though there was a senior person from the promoters who witnessed the events that took place. It was clearly the people who were behind the desk at the venue who answered our complaint. Never go again, although loved it in the past and had been so looking forward to going this year.

Dirty and unfriendly, staff were rude and inconciderate not even worth calling in on a rainy day. A real shame the rest of Whitby was great!
