We take our 2 small children (2 & 4) here every couple of months (combined with a chippy lunch in Skipton.) Great place for children who love trains, the staff are friendly and informative. The shop has a great selection of tomas trains and accessories at a good price. Well worth a visit! More

Visited the Thomas the Tank day over the weekend. Book online for cheaper admission £2 each more expensive if you pay on way in. £10 for adults and children via net, this included gifts for the child, we got 2 books, thomas the tank cup, sticker, (you can chose which gift) and a small mega blox toy. Just got back from our Day with Thomas at Embsay & Bolton Steam Railway. 4 Adults and 2 Children (14 Month and 4 Month boys). I have to say after reading the reviews I was a little anxious on arrival but needn't have worried we had a lovely day. We bought our tickets online and got a cheaper price than... More

We were holidaying in the Lake District, our daughter was holidaying in Yorkshire, so the railway was an ideal place to meet, as we had not been to Skipton before. A well restored line with beautiful buildings and fantastic scenery, and the staff were exceptionally helpful. It is also an ideal chance to travel behind more industrial type steam engines More

We visited for the Thomas the tank engine event over the bank holiday. We thought it well organised and good value with plenty to see and for the kids to do. The train ride takes about 20 minutes each way and you pass another atrin going the other way which the kids thought exciting. You can blow Thomas's whistle ,... More

A great little preserved railway running four and a half miles from the village of Embsay a mile outside the town of Skipton. The Two Stations are beautifully maintained with a regular service every weekend. The Locomotives are small but authentic for a branch line of this size. The Staff are excellent and are more than willing to help and... More

Arrived at Embsay - at which the railway's historic carriages and steam engines are based - and travelled to the picturesque Bolton Abbey. At Bolton Abbey there is a nice cafe and there is a lovely walk (approx 1.5 miles) down to the historic Abbey itself. Entry into the Abbey is free, and its well worth the walk, although on... More

We visited Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway on a weekend when they were holding a 1940's event. This provided additional interest as there were a number of motor vehicles from the period and people had dressed up in the fashion of the 40's, including many in wartime uniforms. There is a shop and cafe at both stations (Embsay and... More

I visited this attraction with my daughter who is a wheelchair user and was very impressed with how helpfull the staff were. We have visited places in the past and have sometimes been made to feel like an inconvenience even in places advertised as wheelchair friendly. Our experience on the railway was at the other end of the scale! All... More
