We diverted via Eden Camp on our way home on Monday, Sept. 28th having read about it whilst staying in Scarborough. I had particularly wanted to see the exhibits about the campaigns in which my parents and uncles had been involved: the Far East, North Africa, Malta, Crete, Norway, the bombing of Germany, escorting convoys and the Home Front. Unfortunately... more

I - like many others - had not heard of the Eden Camp before and we only went after discivering the leaflet in our holiday cottage. I'm so pleased we made the effort. It is - without a doubt - one of the best museums I've ever been to. There are scores of exhibits - plenty of room to spend... more

This is well worth the £5 person it cost to get in. We spent over three hoursa looking around and only gave up because we had to get back to our hotel - we could have kept going for another hour at least. The exhibits are a little cheesy at time - check out the dambusters model - but the... more

You certainly get your money's worth here with enough to keep you going for a good 4-5 hours. There are plenty of tanks, field guns and aircraft exhibits. The huts are crammed with facts, figures, photos, memorabilia and reconstructions. They are sure to prompt many children to ask "what did you do in the war?" You have been warned. more

We spent 5 hours, 2 cups of tea and cake and endless reading and still could go back to see what we missed. What an excellect day out and we were pleasently surprised by the number of children who actually looked interested ! Highly recommended. more

Was not quite sure what to expect in visiting this location, but what a fabulous surprise. A WWII prisoner of war camp which has been preserved as a war-time museum. This attraction is obviously a work of love, only someone passionate about the topic would spend this much time, energy and attention to detail in building up the museum, and... more

Love this place - so authentic and moving. Even the canteen serves war time fayre - meat pie & stew & dumplings were excellent. The attention to detail was incredible - it even tells you on a blackboard what was happening 65 years ago in WWII on the day of your visit. Really well thought out lay out - all... more

My husband, two sons (aged 12 and 10) and I visited Eden Camp in February 2008 - and felt that we were frozen in time, the 1940s! It was amazing! Although I'm only 41, my father (who had me at a late age) fought in the second world war (he passed away 20 years ago), and I felt very moved... more

My family and I visited the Eden Camp today. We were a party of 2 adults, a 13 yr old girl and an 11 yr old boy. We, the adults thoroughly enjoyed it. However, there are about 30 huts to visit, each with a different war theme...the kids thought it was great up until hut 23 but then they lost... more

My son had become obsessed with the war so I had been forced to take him here as a treat. I must admit i wasnt looking forward to it not being a war enthusiast myself but i was fairly surprised. The place is situated in seperate huts and there are about 30 of these. Each is based on a different... more

Management response from
pownick, Museum Director

We do suffer somewhat from the pre-misconception that our museum is soley about guns and tanks and bombs - probably because our main 'theme' is the Second World War period. However, we have put in considerable time and effort in trying to achieve an even balance between covering the Home Front - what life was like for civilians in Britain...
