This is THE tourist attraction in Nottingham, so if you're spending time in Nottingham as a tourist this is what you should see.
Check out the statue of Nottingham's most famous citizen, Robin Hood, outside the castle first. Two things are striking about the statue: it's quite small and quite strange.

Once you have paid to enter the grounds are well maintained and quite pretty in the summer. The castle itself isn't much to write home about, at certain times of the year different displays are organised, the jousting is possibly one of the better ones. Other than that all you can do is walk round the grounds.

There is not a lot of actual castle but the grounds are attractively planted and cared for. The Museum is very good. Interestingly set out. It is worth visiting the castle to get the view of Nottingham from there. The landmarks are shown on signs to make them identifiable from a distance. Value for money.

It was very nice from the outside, and the caves looked great from the outside too but we were so disappointed to pay £5.50 each only to walk through a modern museum and be pressured into buying things. The things on show didnt even really relate to Nottingham castle. I guess we're too used to seeing original castles that when...
