    Great Break
Wonderful experience in a beautiful place. The staff were very helpful and could not have been better. We had a 4 night stay and it was wonderful just to enjoy the piece and quiet, I would also like to give special thank for the room service especially Teresa for the effort to make it very memorable.

Cold Pool, Cold bubble pool, sauna and steam room
I suggested this spa, to a friend because I had been before and thought that the spa was amazing. Went today, only to find that half of it had been shut down. The Ice room and another pool they had is no longer there, amongst other rooms. There is a place where you can sit and relax, all of the sofas have gone, with chairs only available. All they have now is a pool which is cold, a bubble pool which is cold, a sauna and a steam room. My friend paid £40 per person, which also included some breakfast, which was some fruit, a yogurt, etc. My friend went to ask for a spoon, came back with two dirty ones, no napkins, no cold water where you sit and relax. I actually said sorry to my friend for recommending the place, I was that shocked at the facilities there. All the staff looked miserable and was not bothered at all. The only could thing was there was plenty of space to sit down in. However we saw big pools of water all over the place, two members of staff actually went around the pool. I understand that there was wet floors signs but could have at least moved most of the water off the pool side? What happened to the amazing spa that was always booked up when I went? Shall not be going again at that price.

Shame the main spa has closed - not really a spa day
Went for a “spa day” the main spa is closed and no more outdoor loungers. The chill out room furniture has been changed to uncomfortable chairs. The jacuzzi wasn’t working and pool not that warm so paid to sit in a small sauna/ steam room the afternoon tea was nice and the staff were lovely shame about the main spa closing down after covid

    Spa Day… definitely returning
Today I had the pleasure of a Spa Day at Thorsby with my daughter. The hotel has great history but is beautiful inside. Only negative are all the passages to get to the Spa. Once there, however, the experience was fantastic. Pool and jacuzzi gloriously warm and relaxing. Steam room brill. Didn’t try the sauna. But can highly recommend Spa. Followed the experience by pre-booked treatment of back scrub/ massage. Wow. Such a professional and thoroughly relaxing treatment by Kerry. Could have laid there all day. Our experience finished off with Afternoon Tea in the Blue Room which is a gorgeous room with apparent great history about it. Afternoon tea was delicious and served by a lovely lady called Angie. ( Probably my favourite), who went above and beyond to ensure our experience was as fantastic as possible. Thank you for a great day.

Absolutely shocking do not book. I am easily pleased but this was horrendous. I bought it for my husband's birthday because I used to go and it was lovely but what was the spa is now non-existent. All that is left is a swimming pool with a cold Jacuzzi which had aqua aerobics on when we were there so we couldn't use it. There is a feedback form for Warner's (you can't call them) which takes 29 days to get reply. It was shocking we paid £100 to go and it was the worst experience ever.

My friend and I were ‘very’ disappointed- we had delux pedicures - in tandem, which we didn’t really want, but wasn’t given an option, so good job we were friends otherwise it might have been intrusive…

My professional opinion/observation (a beauty therapy tutor/lecturer for 30yrs+& salon owner)
The therapists were very pleasant however, standards were below expectations and in brief…
1. My friend had a coat and was instructed to place on the ‘floor’ next to a sink - there was builders/plumbers debris/dirt/cement there ? Suggest pegs or coat stand available in area?
2. Chairs for pedicures are ‘offset’ to plinth so we both ended up with aching backs at the end - this was because a trolley was placed between the therapists to both use, which offset the clients position, causing us to have to twist - suggest alter positioning or put a trolley at each side?!?
3. One therapist had very long hair, which dangled over clients feet and therapist was constantly touching and flicking out of way!! Suggest - hair tied up - this is basic H&S HABIA ‘code of practice’ for therapy workers.
4. Hands were not washed prior to treatment - this should be basic practice before gloves are donned (which they were)
5. Application of products was very brief and a full foot massage was not completed on my friend - her therapist sat and chatted and watched my therapist apply a foot massage (still too brief) why was this? Both booked a ‘delux’.
6. Heated foot gloves - general rule is should be in place for 10-15mins to allow for skin penetration of products - mine were on for 2 and a half minutes!!!
7. Atmosphere - pop music playing a bit loudly all the way through on iPod speakers!! We both commented on this at the start but it was not picked up on and not corrected - they only said that another therapist had chosen the songs???!?! Suggest: you provide a relaxing peaceful environment and listen/act on comments from clients.
8. Chewing gum throughout treatment- so wrong! Basic HABIA/exam standards - no chewing of anything during treatments and in company of clients.
9. No water was offered at end of treatment . Again a basic offering after any spa treatment. Client can’t walk about when waiting for nails to dry!!
10. Although, my delux pedicure was only marginally better than my friend, she said it was the poorest treatment she had experienced at any spa!! I had to agree and although we tried to make the best of it, sadly it did not meet our expectations.
I need to reiterate that the girls were very pleasant, although I do hope this review is picked up on and the manager organises a ‘standardisation’ training session. Treatment standards needs tightening up - Warners market their spa and treatments to be an indulgent and relaxing experience! Unfortunately, we did not receive this!!
Really hope it improves! I am attending other Warners this year, but not sure I will be parting with any more hard earned money again at a spa?!?
In fact, on my friends behalf I would want to request a refund to be honest!!?! I did ask at the time how I could provide feedback and was told that I would receive a general feedback form to my email 3 days after our visit, but not received this or I could go on tripadvisor!
Hope Thoresby picks this up.

We went as guests of old friends so it feels churlish to complain as we were unable to pay for anything. However, it was a very weird experience. Firstly, the hotel apparently only allows guests between 11am and 5pm, which is fair enough but made it feel like we were an imposition on the staff. I don't recall the name of the dining area we sat in, but the only food on offer was sandwiches or a few sharing platters. Our friend went to the bar to order drinks only to be told that the beer I'd asked for is only available in a different bar. A little later he was back at the bar to order some food. (None of the staff made any effort to come to the table to ask if we'd like to order.) Then, to our horror, a cocky young man came strutting up to our table and announced in a voice that could be heard by everyone in the room that my friend had exceeded his credit limit. (Apparently the hotel sets a credit limit when you check in.) When my friend expressed doubt that he'd exceeded the limit the staff member rudely said that they would fulfil the food order "this time" but my friend would have to go to reception to sort it out. The folks at the table behind us listened to all of this with great interest. We were hugely embarrassed for our friend who was made to look like the kind of reprobate who'd scam a "luxury" hotel out of a few sandwiches. So nul points for customer service. Then the food arrived. Oh lordy. I'd ordered a pulled beef toasted sandwich. It was stuffed full of great chunks of cheap and very sour gherkins that overwhelmed all other flavours. The ladies shared a ploughman's that would have left a single ploughman hungry and disappointed. All of this and the oppressive heat in the room made for a dispiriting reunion with our friends who had so generously invited us to lunch. This is a place that treats its paying guests like errant schoolchildren and embarrasses them in front of others. The waiter that came to our table seriously needs some customer service training. It's a shame really, beautiful old buildings and stunning grounds, but you're made to feel like an intruder and we definitely would never consider staying there. My friend deserves an apology for the shoddy way he was treated, too.

We went to the spa as a special treat, unfortunately it was not what we expected. As others has reported the pool and hydro pool where extremely cold, the hydro which where especially looking forward to was to cold to use at all, and other spa users where also complaining about this.
We then went for our treatments which included a back massage, again the room was cold to the point where the massage could not be enjoyed.
The afternoon tea was enjoyable but when we leaving the complex we where intercept by a staff member in front of other guests and accused of not paying which we had, this was extremely embarrassing and humiliating.
I have raised these issues with customer services but apparently they do not view them as a relevant complaint.
I consider the spa offers a poor experience and poor customer service

Customer service is non existent. Waiting literally hours for anyone to answer the phone..they didn't and so gave up . In desperation tried 'live' chat. Don't bother it's just as bad on here. Had to join a queue and the message came that it would be a 20 minute wait. Forget it I'll go elsewhere. Avoid Warner like the plague.
