I love old sites like this. The stones form a complete circle and look as though worm-eaten. You can put your hand through some of the holes. When we went there was a fruit tribute in the centre - watermelons pineapples and all sorts of non-British fruit. Totally incongruous but that is one of the things I like. These sights... More

“A place of natural beauty with a cream tea close by”

I love stone circles but I think this could be enjoyed by anyone wanting a pleasant stroll in the countryside. If stone circles are not your thing, you probably wouldn't rave about this, but there are great views over the neighbouring countryside and it's really peaceful. Nearby, and well signposted, theres a farm shop serving excellent food and providing shopping... More

“A henge you can climb on...”

The stones in the henge are all relatively small so small children will love climbing on them. There are beautiful views of the English countryside and if you visit at sunset as we did the colours are quite fantastic. Ok if you're not into such things you won't find much in it, but I love the perfect circle, the way that the stones are irregular and love the fact they're covered in lichen which makes each stone very beautiful. The Rollright stones in the Cotswolds are on the Oxfordshire/Warwickshire border. I live local and the stones are only a 10 minute drive away for me, so thought I'd take a look as I had a spare evening and the weather was nice. Now if you go on their website it's states the stones are open from sunrise to sunset... More
