We would highly recommend this two hour walking tour of Oxford. The guide was excellent taking us to two colleges in the morning when most colleges are closed. He was really good at explaining the development of the city and university over the centuries and bringing us right up to date - especially with how the university and colleges work... More

Apparently the tours are not uniform, the guide we had was terrible, talked on and on about himself and how wonderful it was to be a muslim lebanese foreigner in England (!). Not knowledgeable at all about the city nor of the university. Not helpful in his explainations, ignorant of the history so entrenched within the city walls and the colleges.... More

We took the Inspector Morse Tour from the Tourist Information Centre in Oxford. If you want to do this tour you need to pre- book as only 19 places are offered on each tour. This is difficult if traveling as the booking conditions for online bookings specify that the printed ticket must be presented at the TI to take the... More

The two hour guided walk starting at 2 pm was very worthwhile with entry into two colleges and a good discussion of how the Oxford University system works. First there are thirty-eight colleges that are a part of the Oxford University. A prospective student must meet high academic and moral standards before being selected for admission and then comes to... More

A group of colleagues and I went on a private group tour with a guide named Joe. He was extremely knowledgeable about the city and its history, and he got us access to two of the colleges (chapels, greens and gardens), which most of us wouldn't have been able to see otherwise! He was also quite personable and jovial, and... More

I joined a daily walking tour from the Tourist Information Centre on Broad Steet, they offer several tours a day. The staff on the desk were friendly and helpful and made me feel very welcome and helped me to decide on the best tour for me. Having previouly visited Oxford I had a brief idea about the city but the... More

We had only a day to spend in Oxford and wanted to see the main university sights and learn a bit about their history. We booked this tour through the Tourist Information and it ticked all the boxes. Our guide was a charming local lady who gave us a real insight into university life past and present and pointed out... More

Was in London for a week in Oct 2011 and deided to spend a day in Oxford. The train trip from London Paddington was just under 1hr and quite cheap (5 pounds) and comfortable. Trains run every hr there and back during the week so very convenient. Upon arrival it took about 15 mins to walk to the Oxford Tourist... More

our guide was very knowledgeable and efficient but she came across as a rather bossy school teacher who did not invite or welcome questions. Those that were asked were answered in a perfunctory fashion. she was obviously going through a format that she had done many many times before. A good guide should appear to want to be there and...
