This is just the most fantastic bookshop. Great selection, great atmosphere. You have to fear for the future of bookshops in the Amazon and Kindle age but somehow Blackwells will survive. It certainly deserves to. There are books at Blackwells you won't see elsewhere. The literature section is unique...part university bookshop, part museum almost. The DVD section is small but... More

Unbelievably large bookstore, stretching from the store front on Broad Street up 3 stories high. Check out the basement, reached under all the way to Trinity College, it boasts three miles (5 km) of shelving and at 10,000 square feet (930 m2) merited an entry in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest single room selling books. A must... More

The Norrington Room downstairs has a tremendous selection of the latest thinking on politics, economics and society in the West and the rest. Puts US college bookstores to shame! More

There is a huge bookstore hidden beyond. Blackwell's combines the features of a mainstream bookstore (books, DVDs, cafe, wifi), an academic bookstore (the Norrington room is nerd heaven) and a second hand bookstore (top floor). A true Oxford gem. More

Lucky enough to get on one of the walking tours of the bookshop, visited the office of 'the Gaffer' and had the opportunity to see and touch related artefacts. 30 mins well spent. More

Blackwells is an amazing bookstore. The shop doesn't look very big from out front, but it goes back a very long way, as well as going up several floors, and of course down into a cavernous room filled with every book on politics and science you could ever think of. The ground floor has a very good selection of fiction... More

This is a real shop where real students buy books and drink tea and coffee. If you love books, you must stop and have a cuppa in the cafe with your favorite book. It is also favorite hangout scene in the book A Discovery of Witches. Toilets are on the top floor. More

Blackwell's is absolutely amazing - it appears very small but then you go downstairs and the floor space is startling - I would certainly reccomend it for a short trip. Be wary though as it is quite hot and stuffy. More
