Would recommend a trip to Oxford Castle 'Unlocked', very educational with live 'actors' bringing the tales to life. Included in the tour is the Tower, Cells, Crypt and Mott. Anne Green, the lady that survived her own hanging is to be highly recommended! More

A nice tour in this historical place that once became a prison. Was expecting a better and more interesting tour but was just OK. I remember lots of stairs so not so recommended for buggies. More

I can't remember the amount we had to pay, it wasn't much, but in my opinion it wasn't really worth it. As a student on Oxford I wanted to optimize my stay and do as much as I could. I would say that Oxford Castle would be last on my priority list. You can't walk around on your own so... More

A bit boring for the kids. Went on for a bit long and was quite cold. Not bad value for money. More

It's a must see for any tourist so as a tourist we went. Expected a naff disney-esque tour and was most agreeably contradicted. The staff were all well versed and genuinely cheerful. the structure and format most professionally delivered and the freedom to roam after the initial theatre performance by the guide was a relaxing opportunity to review More

I visited after about 14 hours overnight travelling so was half asleep. I'm planning to return when I'm awake! Our guide was "Isaac Durkin", interesting stuff, he really knew what he was doing and the stories of the place were fascinating. The history of the prison/castle spans from about the 12th century right up until 1996. In a way it's... More

Oxford Castle Unlocked is worth every penny of the entrance fee. It gives a very realistic view of what it must have been like to be imprisoned there. It's a great place to take children to educate them More

The place itself has been really well done, and has a great history. However, I'm one of those people who cringe at student guides dressed in medieval clothes trying to act to grown ups. Really crap. Just talk to me normally and I'd enjoy it much more. More

Excellent interactive guided tour suitable for children and adults. There are 101 steps up the tower so not suitable for the less mobile. I am not sure whether the tour is available in languages other than English so if English is not your first language it may be worth checking. The tour is more about the prison than the castle....
