We had booked for Sunday lunch on The Quantock Belle and the sun came with us. Staffed by volunteers the welcome on board was conducted by the waiting staff smartly dressed in white shirts, waistcoats and black trousers. We took our seats in sumptuous easy chairs with a table covered in crisp white table cloth and laid with a silver... More

We started our trip at Bishops Lydeard Station. On the journey to Minehead we had a fantastic Sunday lunch. The service was excellent, and the food was wonderful. After a couple of hours in Minehead, we caught the train back, with a very tasty cream tea. A lovely day on a very nostalgic steam train. More

We travelled on the West Somerset Railway on a wonderfully sunny day in May. The noise and steam and sheer excitement of seeing the beautifully cared for engines took us back to our childhood. The trip through the beautiful Somerset countryside was wonderful, wild flowers bloomed along the embankments and the stations were a blaze of colour, with volunteers working... More

Oh the nostagia! The excitement and drama of steam. Beautiful scenery, helpful friendly staff. Expensive yes but no more so than many other attractions which offer far less. Having read other reviews I was a bit concerned about taking my baby grandson in his rather large pushchair but the staff helped us get it in and out of the guards... More

Family of 4, kids aged 3 and 6 at the time, really enjoyed it. Staff all really friendly. Got on at Bishops Lydeard and travelled to Minehead for a day on the beach. Minehead train station is a short, 2 minute stroll to the lovely sandy beach. We had a lovely day on the beach and travelled back, so it... More

A trip on the West Somerset Railway is a must if you are in West Somerset. The scenery is lovely with the line passing through the Quantocks before running alongside the sea toward Minehead. Great old steam engines polished to perfection. Wayside stations with Stogumber and Crowcombe Heathfield well worth stopping off at for a cup of tea and homemade... More

My annual pilgrimage to Minehead always takes place when the WST holds its Spring Steam Gala. This year's event was superb. Blessed by brilliant weather, the railway and the trains looked at their best. I spent the whole of the weekend making the most of my two day pass - hopping on and off at most of the stations on...
