- Thursday41Edinburgh, United Kingdom52 contributionsEducational and funThe tour is via an audio guide which you can switch on/off or set to the exhibit you are looking at in or out of sequence. The price of admittance may seem high but is well worth the cost. The exhibition is extensive with models and artifacts from the excavations. If visiting Bath this is a "must see". In high season the ques will undoubtedly be quite long.Visited March 2023Written 19 March 2023
- Steve CTorquay, United Kingdom19 contributionsWonderful experienceThe Roman Baths should be on everyone's bucket list. The whole experience is totally immersive. I was surprised at how big it is compared to what you see from the outside, and it is easy to spend many hours seeing and experiencing nearly two thousand years of history. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the automated handheld guides explain every part of the site. Go visit, you won't regret it.Hi Steve, thank you for leaving us a review. We are delighted that the visit exceeded your expectations and that you enjoyed the audioguides too!Written 23 March 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 March 2023
- GB_Team_ChaussyBrie-Comte-Robert, France10 contributionsInterestingThe Roman Baths Museum is one of the main settings of the English town. We visited this Roman and Georgian looking town. The audio guides are either interesting or too long, accordinf to the people. We felt the ancient magic of this place, thanks to the renovations. There are only the terms that are used as a mueseum, it is not a spa :). The visit is not suitable for young children who might be bored.Visited March 2023Written 20 March 2023
- GillHPortsmouth, United Kingdom20 contributionsInteresting visitThe Roman Baths are well worth a visit when you are in the area. I last visited years ago and didn't remember it as being so extensive, there was a lot to see and the use of auditory handsets was such a good idea, you could tap in the number of the exhibit you wanted to hear about so were able to go through at your own pace rather than being herded through at the pace dictated by the commentator. I had some trouble when booking my tickets as I didn't receive the email with the downloadable tickets, but I received a quick reply to my emailed query and it was sorted easily. It was easy to find as Bath isn't a very large city, we used the park and ride and got into the centre easily. There are signposts around showing the points of interest. The Baths are next to the Abbey and we could hear entertainers in the square outside playing music - it was all a pleasant and very interesting experience. I would definitely recommend.Visited March 2023Written 21 March 2023
- Alan B3 contributionsHas been on the wish list for yearsIt was great to finally get to see the Roman Baths. The audio tour was excellent and I would not suggest the tour without it. It was available in many foreign languages too. The museum was very informative, although easily crowded in several places, and this was a weekday in March. A lot is made of the main bath and spring, some other areas play a second fiddle with some poorly lit; still overall a good tour of 2-3 hours.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 March 2023
- Emily J3 contributionsFantastic visit to a well-preserved historical siteWhat an amazing place. I've been looking forward to visiting the baths for a long time and it did not disappoint. Such an interesting historical site and so much to see. We went straight in as there was a queue line set up for our time slot. We showed our pre-booked tickets and went straight through, and we were handed our audio guides. The audio description is really well set up. It is numbered around the place, so you can choose which parts of the description you want to listen to, and it was very informative. I liked the organisation and how easy it was to get everybody in quickly. The only downside to our experience was that it was too overcrowded, and so, you couldn't always see and read everything, allowing fewer people in on each time slot would easily rectify this. Overall, it is a fantastic and well-preserved site, well worth the money, and a very enjoyable experience.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 March 2023
- ShacksManchester, United Kingdom46 contributionsAn hour or three, it’s up to you.Great visit, everyone got a audio guide. Nice route around the site, however guide numbers don’t go in the order of the tour. We spent an hour on the tour however it could easily be a few hours. It was a Thursday morning, was busy but not overcrowded. Good to read about the baths before going. Very educational visit.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 March 2023
- Sal94London, United Kingdom4 contributionsHistorical glory.Such an historic and fascinating place to visit. I have always wanted to go and I was not disappointed, fantastic! So much more to see than I thought. The only slight negative would be the amount of people, but it is a world heritage site so completely understand it is popular. Ticked off my wish list!Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 March 2023
- Jefre JBath, United Kingdom106 contributionsWorthwhileAn educational experience. I would recommend it at one of the less busy times. I've been to the Roman Baths twice and the less busy time was better (to hear the guide and to linger a bit around the sites).Visited July 2022Travelled with friendsWritten 27 March 2023
- sianeNottingham, United Kingdom47 contributionsFascinating glimpse into the ancient pastThis was a fascinating visit, with lots of information to take in. Having visited Pompeii, I was familiar with a lot of the features of Roman baths and it was amazing to see these in the UK! There are informative displays as you move through the complex, with an audio guide to enhance your visit. There is even the opportunity to taste the water at the end. My one criticism is that because the attraction is so popular, some of the underground areas were quite crowded, which in these post-Covid times felt a little unsafe. Take and wear a mask when indoors if this is something that would bother you.Visited March 2023Written 29 March 2023

Going to give this only 2 stars. Which is disappointing. We were in Bristol visiting a friend and decided to head to Bath on the Sunday, I saw the Roman Baths online and thought they looked good. The place itself was nice but we paid £49 which was 58 euro for just two people. I feel it definitely wasn't worth that price. The place felt very overcrowded, and found it a bit much that there was donation boxes scattered everywhere asking for £5 after being charged a fortune.

Thank you for your review, we’re sorry to hear that your felt the cost to visit was too high.
A visit to the Roman Baths is a full, unique, and unforgettable day out and is competitively priced with other major attractions. An entry ticket allows you to fully explore and enjoy the Great Bath, King's Spring, and Roman Baths museum in your own time – and also includes a comprehensive audio guide and a chance to meet our costumed Roman characters.
We offer variable pricing dependent on the day of the week and time of year, which gives a choice of the best price and time combination for you. We have also recently extended the bracket of the age of a child ticket to 18, and offer free entry for local residents and anyone caring for a disabled visitor.
Every visit to the Roman Baths protects it for future generations and supports Bath & North East Somerset Council in providing care for the most vulnerable in society.

Very professional welcome, really easy to access with a pre booked ticket. Given an audio guide as part of the price. Handheld rather than headphones, which become awkward to use after a period of time during the visit. Imagine holding a mobile phone to your ear for 90 mins!
Wonderful journey through the baths, with great interpretation as well as audio guides at most points along the journey. Sometimes these audio sections were just too long and caused a backing up of tourists standing around the area being talked about. The museum bit was very well put together, but got far too busy as there were so many long audio sections, all very close together, so ended up having to skip a lot in there, as we couldn't see what was being talked about. This area is also small and the most cramped.
Walking where the Romans once walked was a very special experience, lots of great photo opportunities. Trying the magical spring water at the end was also an experience! The printed guidebook is also a great addition which we bought.
An absolute must do on a visit to Bath.

The Roman baths in Bath are incredibly interesting. Once a pagan Celtic healing pool and then developed into a spa by the Romans. It fell into ruin after the Romans left, became part of the medieval abbey, and was then revived by the Georgians in the 18th century. You can see the Roman plumbing, statues, skeletal remains. And taste the spa waters. Nobody could fail to be fascinated.

Went for free on National Lottery open days. Very quiet at 11am although therefore a couple of school visits, certainly not crowded. You can have audio but I just preferred to walk round enjoying the atmosphere. Helpful friendly staff and a really enjoyable visit. There are quite a lot of steps and some uneven surfaces but very accessible mostly. I used the park and ride which was easy to use

I visited here with my family as a child and wanted to return as my husband had never been. February mid week was not too busy and cost about £21 each. we were not limited to how long we could stay. That might be different if visiting in high season. The audio guides given to us enabled us to learn a lot about what we were viewing. We were there about 2 and 3/4 hours. We thought it was a very positive experience.

I really enjoyed walking around the Roman baths. I loved the fact that you got a portable guid in the form of a “phone”. I was able to go at my own pace and learn about the amazing history of the baths!

For people fascinated with ancient Rome history that is great. For average travellers - just another landmark. A sightseeing worth visiting once, not more. Use imagination to "see" how ancient Greeks enjoyed their time here. I loved only the fact that this site is 2000 years old, and the main "swimming pool". Nice view on the Abbey. Overall ok, not "super". Somewhat boring at the end, but ... visiting once is enough :)

Nothing to say that hasn't already been said. We stayed over 2 hours. Pro tips: Stay in Bath if you can and buy an early ticket (9:15-9:30 am, not 9) - you'll have a more serene and intimate experience. Absolutely use the audio guides (included with admission).

Staying in bath while on our road trip this was a place that was on my tick list and it didn’t disappoint the history is amazing well worth the trip.
Booked tickets on the day and they was fairly cheap no cueing walked straight in it’s a one way system and you walk at your own pace you can opt for the audio which tells you all about the history well worth it.
Lots of the original features , indoor bathing area and out door ,how the pool was heated up amazing .
Well worth the money if in bath a definite visit

Do they allow re-entry? We have a reservation for tea that will cut our visit short so we would love to be able to go back in after tea.

I agree that you should call the museum but I recommend that you go when you have a few hours to check it out. Also, it may be hard to quit halfway through if it is crowded as it is a one-way tour through the museum.

Non ho capito una cosa: la visita delle antiche terme, fanno parte della visita al museo, oppure il museo è una cosa, e le terme un'altra?

Why don't they treat the water in the original bath area? Or minimally reconstruct some the house so that it can be useable? Why let the bad water just sit there? So people can jump in it?

It is meant to be a natural spring, it is for originality not for ‘tourists’ to use as a play area. Enjoy what you see, learn what is on offer, don’t try to make it another ‘theme park’ for those not bright enough to see it fit the historic marvel that it is.
