If you are a quilter, this museum is a must see when you visit the UK. It has many very beautiful American quilts from the 19th Century. Also the staff are very helpful and informative. On a recent visit to Bath we visited the American Museum and had a wonderful time. The museum is in such a lovely setting of Claverton manor. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to this museum.whether you are american or not. A lot of the 'rooms' are reconstructions using original materials from actual buildings in the USA. the guides are friendly and knowledgeable. I am interested in native americans, and found the exhibits very sympathetic towards them. Beautiful examples of beadwork and artifacts. The grounds are also... more

Our first impression was extremely favourable - the first thing that struck our group of four (two Spanish, one English (My wife) and one Australian (me) was how friendly the ticket staff member was. Mostly staffed by the Royston Vasey branch of the WI, the closest most of the volunteers have been to America is a fumble with a GI in World War II. A guaranteed enjoyable visit for embroidery enthusiasts. Don't expect John Wayne or Elvis. more
