A beautiful, detailed exploration of what rural life used to be like in England, anchored on the old Abbey barn, which the monks built and decorated so gorgeously that plenty of churches might wish they had so fine a building. In the most poignant part of the museum, they tell, step by step, what life would have been like for... More

A great place to visit. Lots to see and a nice atmosphere. The town centre is close by as is Glastonbury Tor and the Chalice Well so this can all go to make a good day family out. More

A small rural museum that will keep you absorbed for a couple of hours or more. Friendly staff that go out of their way to make children welcome. Great rural craft film. Cafe has lovely cakes and scones. Worth a visit and no entrance fee but please give them a donation to make sure it's there for others to enjoy! More

It is worth a visit to the museum as they feature many local artists exhibitions going on as well. You can pick up quirky local souvenirs not avail down in the town and the tea shop is warm and homey. The exterior of the building is beautiful and you can visit the barns outside as well. Well worth a visit. More

A site rich in heritage - with a stunning, gigantic old medieval barn, animals for the kids, and really quirky and fun exhibits inside the museum. Great for those who love the Somerset area, Thomas Hardy novels, the Victorian era in rural England. The staff was very friendly also, and had a cute little shop. Did I mention FREE??!?! More

We had been looking to visit some of the better know attractions but some of the entry fees were costly taking into account we only had a couple of hours to spare, so we were really pleased when we came across the Somerset Rural Life Museum which was offering free entry. We really loved this place especially the Abbey Barn;... More
