It was raining and the moat was empty for maintenance when we visited so no swans ringing the bell or pretty waterside pictures - a lovely place to be seen at it;'s best on a fine day. More

It was closed when we got there and it was oh so cold, windy and rainy, but I'm glad we went. I'm not religious by any means, but walking around the moat listening to the birds and watching the water ripple past the historic stone walls was so calming and peaceful. More

Visitors to Wells often head for the cathedral but miss one of the best attractions in the city. Just off the Market Square through the central arch (Bishop's Eye) is a world where you came view 800 years of history set in beautiful gardens. If you arrive at 11:00 on any day there is a guided tour which is included... More

What a wonderful haven for escape, tranquility, beauty and harmony all around - and excellent Chocolate Fudge cake ... the guided tour was really informative, you can stay as long as you like and it's no wonder holidays at home are so great. More

will be better when all the refub is completed. disapointed as most areas were closed off for repairs. There was an entrance fee which was expensive for what was on offer. More

Rather costly for what we saw. Grounds are under development. Best bits were the moat and the new cafe. More

Set in around 14 acres these gardens are a delight to explore. There is a wealth of variety from the beautiful well pools from which the city takes its name to the manicured lawns and flower borders. It is easy to get lost in time here when wandering around and discovering what is around the next corner, and then the... More

I had a meeting in Wells last month and needed somewhere for a quiet coffee and access to my computer. I've only been to the palace once and knew it was being renovated but was delighted to stumble across the Bishops Table. This cafe is in an amazing setting and full of lots of home baked goodies - you have... More
