The main reason we went to Lavenham was to see the Guildhall - a National Trust property, and it is a beautiful timber-framed building. The village itself is also replete with timber-framed buildings and may be one of the prettiest villages I have visited. The museum, which now occupies most of the space in the building, has some interesting material... More

Interesting to see inside what you expect to be a big open space but which in fact isn't. The guide explains why. There is history on the town, the development of the wool trade and its eventual decline. More

This is a must for those that enjoy a step back in time. A national trust property but the whole village is a delight. The old buildings are lovingly protected. Enjoyed a great stroll and a little retail therapy More

A very ancient building with an excellent museum. Pity the cellers were closed as they were flooded. Perhaps next time. More

I wish we had visited on a lovely day, it was raining so we were fairly restricted to indoor views. The guildhall is a lovely preserved building, unfortunately the celler was flooded so we couldn't see that but an interesting museum upstairs whiled away some time. More

Its value is its history. The village is not a place for fascinating nature scenes or majestic, towering walls or pillars, but was said to be a place said to be almost unchanged since the medieval times. For shoppers, this place is for the antique, historical and artwork lovers. Unique and known here are their woollen clothes and Flemish tapestry.... More

An excellent place to while away a couple of hours on a rainy day, made far more enjoyable by the fabulous cream teas served in the beamed tea rooms which overlooked the market cross and square. All at very good value . I particularly recommend the cheese and rosemary scones and clotted cream, a real treat. More

Not a huge lot to see in the building itself, but contains an interesting exhibition of Lavenham history. More

Timeline in the cellar is good, good displays. and the gardens were nice. The building is bigger than it looks. More
