We spent a good hour here, exploring the staircases and passageways. It's really good fun for the kids, although you do have to keep an eye on them for tripping hazards. Nice, informative, stuff to read on the various rooms, and about the history restoration of the castle. Climbing up on the roof is probably the highlight, with fantastic views!... More

Just a few quid entry and steeped in history. Great views of the city from the roof. My nephew loved his trip there! More

Well restored interior, botched exterior restoration. Lots of stairs, a bit creepy in places, but with many stories to tell. View from the roof is good on 2 sides, railway and offices on the other 2 sides. Definitely worth going. We wanted to do an all-night haunted vigil, but it was really expensive..about £75. Still, overall a good toursit stop. More

Having lived in Newcastle my whole life I have only ever visited the castle during my younger years on school trips. My partner and I decided to take my sister and brother-in-law while they were over visiting from the US. It cost £4.00 per adult and once you get inside it's huge. There's lots to see and you can climb... More

Follow the city walls and milecastles and end at castle keep. A good insight into Newcastle's history. Parking nearby, handy for the train station ans cheap entry fee. All round worthwhile visit. More

Imposing and, all things considered, has done well to last this long. Well worth a wander about. More

It's like the tardis inside - deceptively small on the outside, it's a maze inside. However, I can;t help but feel that more could have been made of the space. The few displays that are inside feel rather dated, and the one reconstruction of a room (I think it was the Queen's Chamber) had me in fits of hysterics at... More
