This area has a long, wide walking path along the sea, with a rock filled beach, some commercial spots along the walkway. Whitley Bay is a nice hoilday resort close to the metropolis of Newcastle. Its a great place to visit the beach, and there are some good hotels and bed and breakfasts. Whitley Bay is a down-at-heel resort with tawdry pubs and seedy anmusement arcades; it attracts the local charvers and the more downmarket end of the stag and hen brigade, if you can imagine such a thing. I have been to Whitley Bay several times for Bank Holiday weekends with friends. In the Summer the place is really lively with bars and clubs all close to the seafront. I live in Whitley Bay and i know i'm biased but i dont care because Whitley Bay is such a great place. There is alwayas plenty to do and you'll never find yourself board. It's worth a visit so come on down! more
