All we could see were run down guest houses offering "contractor rates", nightclubs and pubs offering afternoon "exotic" dancing. I am sure this is a great place for the stag and hen weekend, but not my cup of tea. Where did it all go wrong as... More

"Guest" houses have, in the main, turned to the lucrative trade of putting up those people that the council refuse to house. Beaches... More

The beach at Whitley Bay is a nice day out and easily accessible from Newcastle by Metro. The trip down to St Mary's Lighthouse is worth the walk. More

Whitley is tired. The strip is dying, but there are some good bars with a good Wetherspoons and the excellent Rockcliffe Arms. More

Over the past 15 years or so the seafront at Whitley Bay has slowly but surely declined. The area around the Spanish City is a run down, disgraceful mess. Promises have been made for years by the local council to improve the area but so far little has been done. The town once was a magnet for tourists now has... More
